VOLUNTEER. LOCAL. OTICE TO ADVERTISERS. lVTotsnntserit the onr rr published In She wntyr has ft Urge and .permanent circulation, offering 3r,of MTtaU to advertisers. A Card. Ilaviry learned that mv name wamstd "before tke Convention (of tfie eo called Union Itwrtv) on last Saturday for the purpose of rdacin me in nomination as a candidate for Kccordcr of Mielbv County. The same having been done without my knowledge or consent, I take thi method of returning my siuccre thanks to the debates of that convention for the rcy liberal support piven me, and whilst I do this allow Tuc to say had I received the nomination I would not have made the canvas, as I could not allow my name used in connection with a ticket that I could not iupnort LKANDKR FOX. Mario.? Towxsiiip, June 2 M, 1S93. 'Tho Doings on Saturday. On Saturday last there was a small gathcrin;7 of the '"patent loyalists" in this city, called toppther ty the central clique for the purpose of ;:oing through the farce of nominating candidates lor county officers to be defeated next full. The meeting assembled in the Court House nt 1 o'clock, under the management of the League, and the officers and programme previously agreed upon in peiret raidnigt conclave was carried out E. G. Mayhew ivas called to preside, and on taking the Chair retailed the,, audience with a characteristic burst of Cisceronean eloquence. The chivalrous and transcendental John C. Green was called to act as Secretary. Whillethccut and dried committee on nominations bad retired for consultatian, Gen. Ebeneier Dumont (or rather Ex-Gen. Dumont, for he has resigned) member of Congress elect from this District, was called upon and addressed the audience. His speech was a disgusting compound of vulgarity, profanity, current political epithets and mendacity, causing the ladies in attendance to hang their heads with shame. But two feeble cheers rewarded his etfort. Tho' Committee reported the names of Andrew J. Winterrowd for Clerk, Wm. Judkins for Recorder, and Lewis J. Kickctts for Commissioner, which was confirmed by the Convention. A set of cut and dried resolutions, of tho bighferhitin patent loyalty style were reportel and read to an impatient audience, when the meeting dispersed, those who were not drunk, nor did not design geting drunk, leaving for home with all possible dispatch to hide their mortification. To say that the entire erowd was drunk, would be doing injustico to many worthy atcn, but there was a "powerful slew" ol drunken men in town that day, and they were all of the '"patent loyalty" persuasion. Our County Auditor, Sqcire L. Vaxtei.t, has been confined to his room for two w?eks past by a severe attack of Typhoid Fever. We understand he is slowly recov. ering, and that no apprehensions of a serious result arc entertained. Frank Sxow is out with a new ad vortisemont this week. FranV is a good workman, and those dosiring a superior set of harness or a saddU will find it to their advantage to give him a call. ffct Decatur county is probably in as bad a financial fix as a county seldom gets. -She is largely in debt her taxes for county purposes alone is about one dollar on the one huudred her orders are at a heavy dis count Hut notwithstanding all this, her county commissioners, actuated by the law lessness and recklessness of abolition fanati istn, have directed that seven thousand dol lars be taken out of their empty and bank. rupt Treasury and handed over to Gov.Mor ton, to be by him expended as he shall deem proper in keeping the wheels of the State government moving, and. thus avoid the necessity of calling the Legislature together in extra session to make the necessary appropriations, and at the same time endorses the conduct of the Republican members of the Legislature, who, by their revolutionary act ofsescssion last winter, broke a quorum. This abolition elephant is becoming an expensive one for the people a fact they are rapidby finding out We understand that similar appropriations are being made by every county in the State which is so unfortunate as to be cursed with un abolition board of Commissioners. tsaT The chief characteristic of Abolition apoutera is profanity. The vulgarian who takes the name of God in vain ften means nothing, and would himself be shocked at his irryerpnco if he reflected on it; but the politico-theological gladiator assumes a familiarity with the Supreme Judge of all the earth which disgusts men of moral sense. Kren his prayers are shocking. His profane ppoutings are disgusting. He assumes that the Almighty is bound to be on his side, and presume to hurl the bolt of heaven at the head of his enemies. He interprets Profidence to suit his self-righteous purposes, and deports hunielfw if he held a scat in the council board of the Most High. The Tub lican wai, no doubt, a great sinner, but not bo hopeless a one as the Pharisee. What are reckoned the worst of men by fashionable religionists aw not, after all, as far from Heaven as the presumptuous hypocrite who insults Heaven bj his anathemas in the name of Gt4. ' V ' (

ty under the National Excise lar has teen removed and Jerry Weakley appointed in his place. This change was accomplished by one f the most unricheous and infamous resorts to xtltmiy and fahehood erer resorted toby any class of political charlitans under this or any other government We understand that the charges and specifications comprise five points : First, that Mr. Wills did not vote for Fremont in 185G that he did not vote Tor II H. Boggesinl858norin 1860 that he-did not vote for Harvey W. Robertson in 1862 that he did not vote for James E. M'Guire in 1863, the whole going to impeach hra loy alty the modern patent kind of course. The faet is Mr. Wills is not a member of the League, he has a moity of conscience and will not consent to do the dirty work of the abolition clique in this city who control the party. There are some other rich develop, cients connected with this affair, which will be shown up in due time. The class of men who have perpetrated this mean and contemptible act of party proscription will approach men and assure them there is no politics in their party, its a party for the Union, the country and similar bosh. Itinfactis an organization for the spoils to dignify being, stealing and robbery to a patriotic accomplishment. A Rebel Uaid into Indiana. It was reported last week that a stray gang of rebel guerrilla, numbering about one hundred, had crossed the Ohio river and invaded the soil of Indiana, probably in search of the "sympathisers" they had read so much about in such " loyal" sheets as the Indianapolis Journal, Cincinnati Commercial and Gazette, and their re-echoes. It is reported they'speedly found the sympathisers who very kindly took them in out of the cold andlodged them in a State institution at Jeflersonville, where they will remain until it ean be ascertained whether or no they have ever been regularly mustered into the rebel service. The fore part of this week it was reported another force, estimated at nine hundred, had invaded the State, but it turned out to be a hoax. The New York Tribune of the 14th, in speaking of Mr. Vallandigham, says: 'True Vallandlghara, is for the Union; but it is the Union so adapted and accommodated to the dictates and interests of the slaveholders that they could not, for very shame, even seem to break out of it." So Greeley admits that Vallandigham is not only for the Union but is prepared to make sacrifices for it that he is not The charge is that he will concede too much for the Union. HIARRIED.
