Tbe Democratic State Central Committee for Indiana, have issued a call for a grand rally of tbe Democracy at Indianapolis on Wednesday, tbe 20th of May next. The Jeffersonian Society. On tbe 13th inst, this Society fpx its first public exhibition, consisting entirely of original productions. They done well, better than was expected, when it is taken into consideration they have been organixed but about four months, and this being the first time many of them ever appeared before the public, the Society consists of young men between the age of 16 and 21 meets regularly everv Friday evening at 7 o'clock in

their room in Seminary. They are always happy to see those who take an interest in their meeetings. There was a novel spectacle presented on the square one day last week. A certain livery keeper had became in possession of an animal of the horse species, remarkable for neither gentleness nor amiable disposition. Whether laboring under the balucination that it was sleighing cr intent upon practicing a delusion upon the aforesaid animal, he hitched it to a "jumper" and was making the circuit of the square,w hen the animal, either intent on trying its own bottom or laboring under the delusion it was excellent sleighing, started at full speed, and so Rudden as to detach the running gear from the box. and made the circuit of several squares in fine style and at 2:40 speed, spread" ing fear and consternation among the women and children, and finally brought up at the stable, with the shaves dangling at its heels i Improvements Aboit Town. Our friend Hiess has just made a decided improvement in the frontal appearance of his Dakery and Variety Store, creditable alike to the taste and public enterprise of the owner. Returned to the Army. Capt. John N. Scott and Lieut Limax Jones, who were wounded at the battle of Murfreesboro, and have since been at home on furloughs, left to join their regiment this week. Capt Scott has quite recovered from bis wound, as also has Lieut.
