Belated. We delay the publication of the VolrsTEER one day this week in order to give the official rote of the County.

3T The Democratic meeting in this city on Saturday last was one of the largest and most enthusiastic we have ever seen. One procession numbered over thirteen hundred, and it is estimated the number in attendance was not less than three thousand, the Court Ilonse was filled to its utmoat capacity, and not over one half were able to get in. The speech of IIon.Tho's A. Hendricks was one of that gcntlemans happiest efforts, an 1 carried conviction to the minis of all who heard it.

The County Fair. The Fair terminated on Friday. The weather for the last two day a was wet and diiagreableand probably prevented many from attending. The exhibition of stock tya fair, tip to the average, but in the othr departments the display was exceeding

ly slim. The attendance was also small. Upon the whole the affair cannot be said to have been a success, nor was it a total failure. M'Guire fc Co., exhibited some good samples of their work :n the carriage line, not gotten up at a greht expense for the occasion, but taken from their show rooms, therefore a fair sample of their work. Conrey fc Co. exhibited some fine's pecimens of furniture, ordinary home work, anch as may always be found in their show rooms. There were several other exhibitions of merit, but as wo spent but a few monnents on the ground and took no notes, we are unable to speak of them in detail.

Sixth Distuict. The probability is that Dumont, abolitionist, is elected in this District, by one of the most glaring frauds ever perpetrated. His seat will undoubtedly be contested by Cuuduitt, who will be awarded the seat.

A desirable house and lot in this

citv is offered for sale. Inquire of Ym.

I. lrou n, Esq,

JEW The drafted men from this county were taken to Indianapolis on Wednesday last, where they will bo mustered in

few of them voted the Rcpnblican-union-no-party "shody" ticket on Tuesday. (Jre&ne B. M'Carty. We have leceivcd a note from this gentleman assuring us we done him great injustice in a notice last week as to his conduct an I Ianiruae - m t n ... rn i it

We understand that Mr. M'Fadden .has lodged a complaint with the authorities at Indianapolis against Mr. M'Carty, hit he has not yet been arrested, nor is it probable that he will. We also under stand, indirectly, that Mr. M'Fadden has taken upon himself the position of general spy and detective for this locality and purposes, if he has not already done vo, .lodging complaints against several gentlemen in this city and vicinity. 37 The negro phobia papers insist that Chawls Cattle Fremont came very near catching Stonewall Jackson in Virginia. We saw. a dog come about as near catching a rat, the other day, which reminded us of the narrow escape StoneW11 made when Chawles was in pursuit of him. If the dog had understood the business of catching rats, and the rat had possessed less tact in alluding dags, he twogld hare been a gone rat certain, but jls it vac the rat had no dtfiicultf.ia makbis escape. -
