Town Crier Invites Everyone To ’Have A Ball’ In Zionsville
‘‘Hear Ye Hear Ye” is the call which will echo through the main street of Zionsville, as members of the Junior Group of the Women’s Committee of foe Indiana State Symphony Society present their “Gala Country Fete & Fair” on Saturday, July 15. The bright yellow invitations, created by Mrs. Douglas Short ridge, give a taste of the decor planned for the 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, rain or moonshine event, sporting mouse caricatures in a colonial setting. Decorations for the town will Include a big wooden farm gate placed at the main entrance at Oak Street, where colonial mice will greet the guests. All of die light poles along Main Street will be festooned with a display of three flags, Indiana, and the new Zionsville flag for which the town captured one of the Freedom Fouo- - datioa Awards in 1971, and large hanging baskets filled with petunias, geraniums, vinca and springerie. Centered in each basket will be a colonial mouse peering out to watch the festivities. Dancing to the music of both

Jim Edison and The Cinnamon Empire, and entertainment by the Indy Strummers, will take place under a huge green and white striped canopy tent ao cented with hanging baskets of geraniums on th? inside and geranium trees all around the outside. Streetside tables will sport green and white cloths, candles, pots of white petunias and clay saucer ashtrays. Dinner will be served, at an extra charge, in The Bittersweet inn, The Green Apple with the Worm and the Village Pump. The Inn will feature two settings, Harvest from the Sea, or Harvest from the Farm, at $5.50. The Apple offers a sumptuous buffet at $7.50, and the Pump will present a porterhouse steak, potato, salad and cocktail for $5.50. Beer will be sold on the street as well as soft drinks. The Village stores will be open and the merchants will greet guests in colonial attire while quaint and colorful vendors line the streets in booths and carts. Their wares will include popcorn, roasted peanuts, bean soup, hot cherry cobbler, hand-made candies, hot pretzels, pickles, corn on the
cob, liquor flavored ices, flowers, home-made bread, sandwiches and art work. Mrs. David Garrett is chairman of foe ball, Mrs. Philip Brown is chairman of foe Zionsville committees, Mrs. Stephen Bailie is the Junior Group chairs man, and Mrs. Vincent Desmond, of Carmel, is in charge of reservations. Proceeds of foe event, open to foe public at a cost of sl2 per couple, will benefit foe Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The Zionsville committee also includes Mrs. BrooksMellett, Mrs. Albert Kogan, Mrs. Tom Gruhl, Mrs. John Fry, Mrs. Howard Bedell, Mrs. H. Roll McLaughlin, Jerry Abbott, Mrs. Philip Brown, Mrs. Patrick Breese, Mrs. Clarence Yates, Mrs. Lawrence Finley and Mrs. Burt Hall. Arthur G. Dr. Ray Montgomery officiated at foe June 24, wedding which united Miss Janice Marie Afolnson and Arthur Paul Boomershine, Jr. in marriage at foe Speedway Christian Church. After foe 2:30 pan., ceremony and reception which washeldinFek lowshlp Hall, foe newlyweds left for a honeymoon trip to Canada. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Afolnson, 4928 W. 12fo Street, is a graduate of Ball State University. Her husband, a student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Paul Boomershine, Sr., 6229 Hickorywood Drive, Speedway. The bride’s sisters, Mrs. Shirley Swindler, Miss Donna Afolnson, and Miss Wanda Atkinson, served as matron of honor and bridesmaids dressed in yellow floor length gowns. They also wore garden hats and canried baskets of garden flowers. The bride made her appear, ance dressed in a full length gown of ivory chiffon over satin which was trimmed with Alecon lace. An Alecon lace headpiece secured her tiered illusion veil. Ronald Otte served as best man and foe groomesmen included Conrad Kleinglnstein and Travis Fendley.

Tri Kapp Nnerri The Speedway Epsilon Eta Chapter of Tri Kappa was cited for its large annual donation to foe Riley Burn Ward and also for its annua] successful Candle Bazaar during foe Province XI of Kappa Kappa Kappa meeting on June 17. The Associate Chapter received a citation for its scrap book, which was judged foe most complete in the Associate group. Associate Tri Kappa members who attended the convention were Mrs. WalterFreund,Mrs. John Graub, Mrs. Earl Chadwick and Mrs. Fred Rankin. Card Party To Be Held St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 2850 S.
