Register Now! Peanut League, B-Ball Provide Summer Fun

Don’t forget to register your non for the Peanut League baseball program. You may do soat either the Meadowood or Leonard Park shelter houses, depending on where you want to play. The Leonard League plays on Monday and Wednesday mornings, while Meadowood teams play Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The first practice and selection will take place at Leonard Park on Wednesday, June 13 starting at 10:00. Meadowood teams will be announced on Thursday, June 14, at 1:00. Each boy must fill out a registration card. These cards will then be filed by age and passed out to each coach. By this method we hope to get a more even spread of age groupes on each team. The break off date for the six year old group is July 1, IFT2. Aboy who is not six before Um first of July must wait until next year. Any boy who is nine before July 1 will not be eligible to compete. Late comers will be taken care of in much

Presenting a program to parents, relatives and friends Fri*7, June 2 was the Wheeler School Kindergarden. Two performances, one at 10:00 a.m. and one at 2:00 p.m. were held In the auditorium. Directed by Miss Worth,teacher, the program was divided into four parts. A play, "Where the Wild Things Are” was presented first. Second was a demonstration of cross motor development, including jumping, hopping, skipping and galloplip. Our favorite dances made up the third division which included the Bunny Hop, Irish Jig, Darling, Dance With Me, Move, and Busy Body. The latter two were individual presentations. The fourth part was our favorite songs. Included were “God Bless America”, “Who Pinched That Little Cloud”, “April Showers", “Space Ship** and

the same way. We hope this works better. The Jailor High basketball boys will register at 8;00 on Thursday, June 14 at toe Speedway High School outdoor basketball courts. This program is open to Speedway boys who will be 7t0,8t0 or 9th graders this next September. Teams will be chosed on toe ’A* level of boys who are older and possibly more experienced. The younger boys are generally put on toe *B’ level. This program meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8;00 until about 10.-00. Each session Is divided into two stages. The first is for fundamental drills and toe secend of toe regular season a double elimination tournament will be held followed by toe awards picnic. Trophies will be awarded to both ‘A’ and ‘B’ league champs, and to toe winners of the double elimination tourney as well. SPEBSQSA To Present 'Happiness Is’ At Clowes

The Indianapolis Chapter of the SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc.) will presert their 7th Annual Stage Show titled ’’Happiness Is” at Clowes Hall, located on the Butler University Campus in Indianapolis, for two big nights Friday and Saturday June 9th and 10th. Tom Genung well known Speedway resident will be seen singing in the Chorus of the coming Barbershop spectacular. The Show will feature the 80-man Chorus of the Speed Capital Chorus of the Indianapolis Chapter plus the MiniChorus, composed of young children, plus several of the top local Quartets. The special added attraction will be the “Harmony Hounds” one of the top nationally known Barbershop Quartets from Battle Creek, Michigan, with their song and fiinny chatter.

Speedway Court Room Opens

The opening of the new court room was held Thursday morning. June 1 at 9:30. Presorting the key to Judge Jester, who will preside at the new court room was Town Board Chairman Freemen Ketron. Mr.Ketron stated, “This is where it starts. We are as close to the Judicial Branch in Washington as we can get in this, our small town court. There will be no peace or respect, otherwise.” Motto Contest Speedway, the town without a motto! Speedway residents can remedy toe situation by entering their ideas (toe mere per person, toe better!) Since winter weather and Christinas time is not the most conducive time to enjoy their favorite past-time, BMW members decided on June for their rally, and hence the title. Games, contests, and a sky-diving exhibition at 4:30 for guests by Jack Swope will be the entertainment. A Santa sack of presents will be awarded each guest as he arrives. An escort to the 500 track and museum will be Saturday morning. Sunday BMW riders will be escorted to Raceway Park to enjoy the 125 mile AMA National Roadrace of Motorcylce Racers. The Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Wisconsin, St. Louis and Alabama BMW Chibs have made this their June event, and from 150 to 200 BMW’s are expected to attend. Vacation Bible School Chapel Rock Christian Church, 1055 N. Girls Schools Rd. will be holding vacation bible school June 19-23, from 9-11:30 dally. Mr. Rutledge was a past president of toe Lions Club. Funeral services were held yesterday, June 7 at 2p.m. in Farley Speedway Funeral Home. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville, Indiana. The deceased attended Crawfordsville High School. Survivors include: wife,Mi's. Lindemann Is Honored The week of June 11, 1972 will be observed by toe Town of Speedway as Reverend Led Lindemann Week and Sunday, June 11 will be emphasized as Reverend Lindemann Day.
