Wednesday was the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord, and the day on which all candles used in the Church, or when the Sacrament of the sick or the Eucharist are administered at home or in the hospital room of the sick were blessed at the 8:00 aan. Mass. They were to be found on the Communion rail. A donation is to be left when candles are taken for home use. These candles are made of pure beeswax and are quite expensive. Today is known as St. Blase’s day, known for the traditionally blessii« of throats. Throats were blessed after the 8 o’clock Massthis morning, at Noon, and will be blessed at 2:45 this afternoon, after the SJO o’clock Mass, and again at 8 o’clock tonight. There is to be a CCD Teachers* meeting tonight, February 3, at 7JO in the school social room, Tomorrow is First Friday. There is no time like the present to begin making the nine First Fridays. The class will meet each Sunday for 12 weeks with an opportunity for each youth to reach a decision regarding reception into membership of the church at morning worship on Pentecost (Whitsunday\ May 21st. Under the direction erf Mr. Bunnage the course will focus on helping each youth affirm the Christian faith on his own, receive the strengthening work of the Holy Spirit into his life; and accept the commission for responsible ministry in the world in Christ’s name. Parents will be expected to be present with youth for the initial session on February 20th. LENTEN STUDY GROUP A Lenten Study Group for women on “Contemporary Theology” will be taught by Mr. Valentine at the parsonage on Wednesday mornings at 10 JO. Coffee and refreshments wiR be served. The same lesson will be repeated at 7JO pan. in the church library for men and women. The meetings will begin on February 23rd and will continue for 5 weeks.
