The Speedway Jaycees and their wives, the Jaycee Jaynes have joined together to give a new look to the Giris School Cottage 3 Rec. Room. Project chairman, Randy Fox and the Jaynes president, Paula Lewis really put their knees into the work as they hand sanded the floors.
Speedway OES Celebrates 32nd Anniversary In Florida
On Saturday, January 22, 63 members and guests of the Speedway Chapter No. 561, Order of Eastern Star, celebrated their 32nd anniversary with a smorgasbord at the Sweden House in St. Petersburg, Florida. This was their fifth annual event. Charles W. Hatton, Past Worthy Patron of the Speedway Chapter, served as master of ceremonies, extending a cordial greeting to those present, and inviting any member of the Speedway Chapter No. 561, O.E£., vacationing in Florida, to attend the next dinner on January 20. 1973. Cub Pack 566 Meeting Held Cub Pack 566 met for their January meeting and welcomed Wayne Morrow and Jerry Lewis into the pack. Atthistime Chris Mathis and Chris Hutton were advanced to the Webelos Den. The opening flag ceremony was conducted by the Webelos; Den 1 performed gymnastic “feats of skill”; and Den 3 closed the meeting with “Good Night Cub Scouts.” A formal inspection was held in preparation for the charter renewal. The winners of this inspection are to be announced at the Blue and Gold Banquet on February 17. The banquet will take place at the Allison School. Cub Scouts from Pack 566 also wish to remind everyone that they are in the midst of their annual candy sale. The fund raising project will continue until February 13.

Jolly Homemakers Name New Officers
On January 12, the Jolly Homemakers met in the home of Mrs. John Whitmore to install their new officers tor the coming year. Mrs. Howard Peyton served as co-hostess for toe ceremony. The new officers include Mrs. Merle Cox, president; Mrs. James Dillard, vice-president; Mrs. John Beinbridge, secretary; Mrs. John Kildsig, treasurer; Mrs. James Richwine, song leader; Mrs. W. R. CoL clesser, health and safety; and Mrs. Ralph Wegener, news reporter. Miss Andrews Maas Waddii| Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Andrews, 1760 N. Gerrard Drive, Speedway, have announced toe engagement of their daughter, Connie R. Andrews, and Roger W. Chailand. The future bridegroom is toe son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis E. Challand of Shabbona, Illinois. Plans are being made tor a wedding on August 26. Hikers To Meet Members of the Indianapolis Hiking Club will meet at 2 pun. February 6, in the parking lot at the northeast corner of the intersection of Fall Creek Parkway and Keystone Avenue, for a three to four mile easy hike. Patristic Program Set Fer PT* Meeting A patriotic program, honoring Washington and Lincoln and our American Heritage, will be presented by toe entire student body of the Carl G. Fisher Schoo] during toe February 9 meeting of the Speedway PTA. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., Miss Pauline Hendrickson and Mrs. Vicki Neely will direct toe boys and girls through a musical era of some 325 years beginning with the days at Plymouth Rock to the Savings Bond days of World War n. Fisher School will also feature an Art Exhibit in the school halls. Mrs. Betty Jean McCoun is toe Art Instructor. IHeetutf Set The Methodist Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association will meet in toe 6th floor lounge at Wile Hall on February 8, at 7:30 pun. The business meeting will be followed by a program entitled, “Kidney Transplantation at Methodist Hospital.” Dr. Leßoy King and Dr. Charles Carter will present toe program. All nursing alumnae are invited to attend. Speedway O.E.S. Ti Elect New Officers The Social Room at the Speedway Masonic Temple will be the setting for the stated meeting of the Speedway Chapter No. 561, O.EJS. on Tuesday, February 8, at 8 p.m. All members are urged to come and vote in the election of a new corps of officers. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
Mrs. Nave To Head Card Party Mrs. Bettie Nave of Speedway will serve as chairman of the Indianapolis Young Women’s Christian Association annual World Fellowship Card Party planned for Wednesday, February 9, in the L.S. Ayres & Company auditorium. Proceeds from the event will benefit the international YWCA World Fellowship fund which supports projects such as child care and training to benefit women of other countries. Tickets for the fund-raising event are available at the Indianapolis YWCA Mothers Morning Out classes and they may also be purchased at the door. Child care will be available at the YWCA. A highlight of the 1:00 pan, card party will be informal modeling by Ayres models. Those assisting with the party are Mrs. Ralph Barolet, Mrs. Leonard L. Trausch and Mr. and Mrs. Michael G. Schaefer will serve as co - chairmen for the annual Scholarship Dance sponsored by the Cathedral High School Mother’s Club on February 12. The event will take place in the school auditorium, 1416 N. Meridian Street, beginning with a social hour at 8 pun.. Dancing to the music of the “Headliners” will continue from 9 pun. to 1 aun. Following the business meeting, Mrs. Herschel Spencer gave a talk on the history of Clowes Hall. She had just recently toured the hall and her report was of interest to all. Mrs. E. K. Student News Michael A. Gwyn and Franklin L, Prickett of Speedway, are among 22 students from the Indianapolis area to complete requirements for degrees at Indiana University. They have received master of business degrees. Also from Indiana University comes word that Anne Hutchison, 5715 Meadowood Drive, Speedway, was pledged to Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. At Ball State University Nancy Sauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sauer, 5531 Hollister Drive, Speedway, became a pledge to Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Linda Maynard, 5725 W. 25th Street, win be one of fifteen Purdue University students to spend the semester break in New Orleans. She will be participating in a work camp which is sponsored by the Wesley Fr»inflation and the United Campus Ministry Association at Purdue. Rev. Max Hale of the Wesley Foundation will head the group. Homemakers Plan Meeting Mrs. Elwood Steckler, 2311 N. Lyndhurst Drive, will welcome members of the Speedway Do-er’s Homemakers to her home for a meeting on February 9. Mrs. William Niemann will be in charge of the project for the 9 a.m. meeting.
