The Speedway Lions Chib hosted a Christinas Party for 180 patients at Central State Hospftal on Sunday, December 10, 1071. A two-car accident injured two men at 1:25 a.m., December 26 at 2600 Georgetown Road, one of these men being Speedway Policeman Dennis R. Pitcher. Police said Donald P. Dalton, 22,2605 Georgetown Road, was backing from a driveway when his auto collided with a car driven by Pitcher, 28, 9 Digby Court, who was northbound on Georgetown Road in his private vehicle. Pitcher suffered lacerations and cortu sions and Dalton suffered a broken left wrist. Both cars involved in the accident were a total loss.

Town Board Of Trustees Holds Last 1971 Meeting
The Speedway Town Board of Trustees held the last meeting for 1971 on Monday, December 27. The Board unanimously approved these appointments for 1972: Ed Sowell, Fire Chief; Lou Jackson, Street Commissioner; Max Williams, Water Works Superintendent; and Charles Bowling, Sewage Works Superintendent. At the end of each year, all uncollectable debts due the Water Works are written off and the Board approved unanimously the write-off of $72.06 for

Milan C. Olbina Milan C. Olbina has been appointed manager of public relations for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis. The promotion, effective January 1, was announced by James V. Lecocq, public relations director for the division’s combined Indianapolis and Detroit Operations. It was also announced that Rex D. Broome has been promoted to news relations manager at the Indianapolis Operations, succeeding Olbina. Olbina, who joined the former Allison Division in 1957 as news bureau supervisor, held editorial and reporting positions with several midwestern newspapers, including the Indianapolis Star and the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. He Ims been manager of news relations since 1964. Olbina atwas graduated from the University of Missouri where he earned a bachelor’s degree in
1971. These uncollectable debts usually involve rental property. As stated earlier this month, the water rate increase will go into effect January 1. The Board stated that after the increase, Speedway Water Rates will still be considerably lower than Indianannlis Water Rates. Rex D. Broome journalism in 1950. Broome, who joined the division’s public relations staff mid-1971, was also a newsman with Indiana and Ohio papers. A 1954 Indiana University journalism graduate, he worked with Chrysler Corporation, Indiana Bell Telephone and was vice president withthe Howard S. Wilcox public relations firm in Indianapolis before joining GM. Broome has been active in Sigma Delta Chi, national professional journalism society; Public Relations Society of America; Indiana Business Communicators; and the Indianapolis Press Chib. GM consolidated its Detroit Diesel Engine Division, largest heavy-duty transmission manufacturer, to form the single Detroit Diesel Allison Division in September, 1970. Indianapolis Operations also is a major producer of gas turbine aircraft and industrial engines.

Ben Davis Band Going To Pasadena

The Ben Davis High School band is shown practicing cadence before taking off for Call* fornia and the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1. California is occasionally rainy but we hope the band has better weather for toe big day than they had for practice on Monday.
The Ben Davis High School Band, with 226 members, left Weir Cook Airport at 10:00 A J 4., December 28 andarrived in California*at 11:00 A.M., Pacific Time. 32 officials and 55 otter guests accompanied the hand. Yesterday, the 29th, the band marched in Disneyland and later spent free time touring the amusement park. Today, the band will tape a special NBC Band Coldest with nine high school band participating in the Rose Bowl Parade. This contest will be aired just before the parade starts on January Ist, so check your TV schedule for airtime. Tomorrow, December 31, the students will enjoy a New Year’s Eve party at their hotel.

This will be the second time a Bon Davis Bond has appeared in this parade and the first time an out-of-state band has been invited back.
