Y Activities
Mothers and preschoolers are Invited to enjoy eight mornings with their neighbors planned by the YWCA to develop skills and stimulate friendships. Each Wednesday and Friday morning from September 23 to November 20 is reserved for the Mother’s Morning Out program at the Westview Christian Church, 5925 W. 34th Street. Ladles may choose their day and classes assured that their preschoolers will also profit from the playschool experience. If enrollments are greater than facilities and teachers available, Speedway residents will be given preference over persons living outside speedway. Possible courses are typing* clothing* developmental reading and other subjects that have at least twelve enrollees. Speedway’s cross countryteam under Coach John Owensby has already run in four meets. They won a triangular meet with Danville and Mooresville and another meet with Thorntown and Brownsburg. Speedway had lost a dose meet to Howe earlier in foe season. The remaining schedule of cross country meets are: Sept. 17 - Brebeuf, T-4:30P.M. Sept. 22-Plainfield-Greenwood Here - 4:30 P.M. Sept. 25-franklin Central Relays - 4:30 PJd. S:3O P M 4:30 PM. Oct. 2 - Roncalli* T- 4:30 P.M. Oct. 6- County Oct. 9 - Mid-State Oct. 13 - Beech grove-Frank-lin Central at Beech Grove 4:30 PM. Oct. 16 - Sectionals The Speedway Sparkplugs lost their football conest with foe Brownsburg Bulldogs on the Speedway field last Friday nite. The final score was 14-6. Speedway reserve football team lost to Decatur Central 20-18 and to Danville 12-0. Speedway freshmen won over Greenwood 8-0.
