daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Shirley of Portland, Oregon. The bride is a graduate of Speedway High School and she attended Ball State University. She received her Master of xArts degree from the University • and will teach In Beaverton, Oregon. She-Is a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Her husband, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis E. Bates, Cheyenne, Wyoming, received his Bachelor of Architecture degree-from the University of Oregon. He .will be employed in the Portland area. He is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown and matching mantilla train of sheer organza over satin and chantilly lace fashioned with a Sabrina neckline and Juliette sleeves.

Her bouquet was a cascade of gardenias, white roses and blue stephanotls. The bride’s attendants included her matron of honor, Mrs. Richard L. Todd, Jacksonville, Fla., sister; Mrs. Jack Shirley, Jr., sister-In-law of the bride, Speedway; Miss Dana Bates, sister of the groom; and Mrs. Michael Weinstein. Miss Julie Ann Shirley of Speedway served as flower girl. The floor length, long sleeved gowns worn by the honor attendant and the bridesmaids had a bodice of white sheer organza over satin and vibrant blue satin skirts accented with pale blue chantilly lace boleros. They carried baskets of mixed flowers. Gregory Stinson served as the best man and the ushers included Chuck Chakel, Ronald Barber and Peter Shutts. Jeffrey Alan Shirley of Speedway, was the ring bearer. Following a trip to Lake Tahoe, the couple will live In Tigard, Oregon. Miss Piper To Wed Sept. 5 Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Pieper, 5731 W. 30th Street, Speedway, have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Lynn Carol to Douglas Warren Small, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Small, 6117 W. 30th Street, Speedway. The bride elect and her fiance are attending Purdue University. The honor attendants will be Miss Christine Carlson of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Steve Speer of Speedway. The wedding will take place in the Speedway United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 5. Friends and family are invited to attend the reception Immediately following the ceremony in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Miss Beverly Ann Preston became the bride of Glenn Warner Hadley during a 3:30 p.m., ceremony held In St. Christopher’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 29. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Preston, 4940 Ford Street, Speedway. She Is attending BaJJ State University. Her husband Is presently attending Purdue University. He Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hadley of Danville, Ind. For the wedding the bride selected a full length white organza A-line gown which featured an empire waist, Edwardian sleeves and a high neckline. The sleeves, neck and chapel length train were trimmed with Venlse’lade In a daisy motif.

CCI To Host Golfers In Paris Setting
Some 72 golfers will tee off at 9:00 a.m., on Friday September 11, when the 9-hole golf group of the Country Club of Indianapolis gather for their annual guest day. Hammer-Bobek Wedding Held
In a double ring ceremony, August 22, at 3:00 p.m., at the St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, San Pierre, Indiana, nuptial vows were exchanged by Barbara Betty Bobek and Dennis Gilbert Hammer. The Rev. John Mimlitz, Pastor of the church officiated. The bride is the daughter <rf Mr. and Mrs. John Bobek Sr., of San Pierre. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ganz Hantuner of Speedway. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of her own creation designed in bridal satin. The princess style gown featured long set-in sleeves of chiffon scattered with Venice lace flowers. Venice lace also trimmed the jewel neckline and front line seaming. The bride is a graduate of North Judson-San Pierre High School and Purdue University. Her husband is a graduate of Speedway High School and will complete at Purdue University this January. He will enter the UJS. Army in February as a 2nd lieutenant.
