SAFEWAY DOES SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR YOU! We at Safeway are interested in giving you the finest quality in every single item. And we’ve got something new for you ... Bananas... now we know bananas aren’t new, but the way we ripen them is new and a great advantage for you, the customer. Bananas do not ripen on trees. They are usually imported from Central America, still green and hard. At warehouses here in the U.S., they are ripened in special rooms, then delivered to grocery stores in a soft-ripe condition. This is the reason you often buy bananas that are bruised. Well, we found a way to help cure this problem. Safeway’s bananas arrive direct at our stores-hard and green. We then put these bananas in a specialized machine with a scientifically controlled atmosphere. This new process assures you of a much more consistent golden banana with more flavor. Just another quality first from Safeway.
