GIRL TYPE BASEBALL - ? Any of you men that are reading this article are probably saying,'Who wants to see a bunch of girls play baseball. Well, mister, in Speedway we have a whale of a girl’s softball team under the coaching of Mrs. Kresge. F.J,, Jr. would like to see a bunch of you guys get up a team and challenge these girls to a softball game (girl's rules) at Meadowood Park some Sunday afternoon or evening. Since the Park Department's summer program is over at the end of July, the baseball diamonds will be idle and this could be real fun game for one and all. We might even get out some spectators to watch a game of this type and it oould by chance turn into an annual affair. SO-O-o-o, how about it, guys? Want to issue a challenge to the girls? It could be a lot of fun for one and all. In answer to a question by one of our readers: Anyone who rents boats at a marina or boat dock can ask for and keep your automobile driver’license while you are renting ing a boat from them. This doesn’t seem right. Yet on checking with Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Driver License Dlv.. and they assured me this is perfectly legal for the boat rental operator. So, we folks who don't own our own boats, and rent must surrender our driver's licenses when asked. The license must be returned to you on return of the rented boat. What's the" record catch on either weight or number of fish so .far this summer by a Speedway resident? Send us a picture or story

(not a white lie) and we will try to publish It. So happy tall tale till next week. A gentleman is going to be miMHng at the 500-Mile Race scene oome next year. Dlok McGeorge, the Major Domo of the Champion Spark Plug Highway Safety Program died last Saturday while vacationing in Wisconsin. Dick who thought up the idea of getting a group of prominent race drivers together to talk to high school students on highway safety and safe driving habits nursed the idea along with the help of Champion until it became one of the most sought after programs of driver education taught in the high schools today. Dick announced his planned retirement last May while at the track and was ;duly saluted at several retirement parties including one by his members of the highway safety team. His friends were world-wide and world renowned, he never forgot a friend or an enemy and he did more behind the scenes to help the more unfortunate in racing than anyone ever knew. Another real friend and gentleman from the old school of racing has left us. He will be missed but never forgotten and the old Australian bush hat he wore will be retired at Champion.
