Speedway Cheerleaders Win Big
Six Speedway High School Cheerleaders Journeyed to Vincennes University for the Cheerleader Workshop, held July sth to the 10th, and brought back honors and awards In every division. Nine hundred girls in a total of two hundred squads competed every night and the Speedway squad walked off with eleven ribbons and the Spirit Stick. The Spirit Stick is awarded to the most spirited squad and the squad winning it three times keeps possession. Needless to say, our gals brought home the stick. On the final day the team won First Place in their division which placed them in the Finals. They then competed In front of 900 girls and a staff of 25 with 9 other First

St. Christopher’s Annual Festival Set
The Annual St. Christopher’s Festival, begun in 1937, will take place next week on Thursday, July 23, Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25. Fun, games, rides, food and drink will highlight the three day festival at the church, located at 5335 West 16th Street. Regular Speedway bus service

will be available to the festival grounds. The refreshment menu for Thursday will Include potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, sliced tomatoes, apple sauce, and corn-on-the-cob. Iced tea, coffee and milk will be served along with fish sandwiches, Coley’s, hot dogs, “our own” chesse on rye, pork barbecue, ham on bun and homemade chili. Friday’s menu will include all of the above features plus pie, deviled eggs, and baked macaroni and cheese. An A La Carte dinner will be featured on Saturday,.with chicken the order of the day. The menu will also include mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, corn-on-the-cob, green beans, baked beans, potato salad and other refreshing treats. Saturdays dinner prices will be $1.25 for adults and 65$ for children. Carry-out service will be available all three days with prices varying due to quantities, __ .

Rosebrock sounded the theme of government to the young men who soon will assume It. The next meeting tor the Speedway chapter will be a picnic with the Speedway Jobs Daughters on July 19. Tri Kappas Awards Day The annual awards day presentation of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority scholarships was held on July Bth, in the auditorium of L. S. Ayres. Awards totaling $12,000 were presented to 36 students from throughout the state. Guests Included the winners, their parents, sorority scholarship chairman and members of the Trl Kappa state council. Larry Hunt of Speedway, was the alternate winner In Fine Arts. Popcheff On Dean’s List Thomas Popcheff, son of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Popcheff, 5624 Maplewood Drive, Speedway, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University Of Cincinnati for the Spring semester. Popcheff has Just completed his freshmaa year at the University.
