An estimated 2,603 tons of structural steel. Over 330 vertical columns which, if laid end to end, would stretch the two miles form Plant 3 on 10th Street to 30lh and Georgetown Road. Enough roof support beams to make a single line 14 miles long—or from Speedway nearly to Broad Ripple. Sufficient concrete for a roadway 22 feet wide, roughly seven inches thick and nearly four miles long. Positioned presently on this concrete are approximately 240 manufacturing machines. Eventually there will be a total of 400 machines, ranging in size from a special drill to bore small metering holes in automatic transmission valves to a large transfer machine that will automatically perform 30 different manufacturing operations on the main case for the AT 540 automatic transmission.
