The Indianapolis Post Office will discontinue the sale of U.S. Savings Stamps after June 30. Postmaster Charles H. Boswell reminded customers today. Eugene Haskett Promoted

Eugene Haskett, an agent in the Prudential Insurance Co.'s Speedway district office, 4912 W. 16th St., has been promoted to staff manager, according to Donovan G. Humphrey, manager of the district office. Mr. Haskett succeeds Irvine C. Voorhees, who has been named agencies service representative In this area for Prudential's MidAmerica Home Office, Chicago. Mr. Haskett, formerly a teacher and varsity basketball coach at North Salem ( Ind.) High School, began his Prudential career as an agent in the Speedway office In June, 1968. The following year, his production of Prudential business topped the million-dollar mark. A native of Linton ( Ind.), he was graduated in 1961 from Central High School in Switz City, Ind. He received a bachelor of science degree In 1965 and a master of arts degree in 1967, both from Western Kentucky University. Attending WKU on an athletic scholarship, he attained 4.0 grade performance—out of a possible 4.o—and was named a President’s Scholar tor Academic Performance. His other academic honors Include the WKU Dean’s List He was a member of the Western Kentucky Lettermen’s Club. Mr. Haskett and his wife, Kay Lynn, are the parents of a two-year-old son, Michael Gene, and live at 127 Oakhurst Court in Brownsburg. Irvine C. Voorhees, who will continue to reside at 7062 Warwick Rd., (Indianapolis), joined Prudential as an agent In an Indianapolis district office In 1946. He was promoted to staff manager in the Speedway district office in 1958.

He was born in Paris, 111., and was a 1935 graduate of Shortridge High School In Indianapolis, he continued his education for three years at Butler University. While at Butler, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta social fraternity. He served as treasurer of the local chapter in 1938. During World War H, Mr. Voorhees served in New Guinea and the Phllllpines and attained the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Voorhees and his wife, Carolyn, have a daughter, Kris>tln, who is a 1969 graduate of 'Ball State University and now (teaches elementary school in kYorktown, and a son, John, a ffreshman at DePauw University. The Speedway Lioness Club, at their final meeting of the current season, voted to present a gift of $75.00 to the Library's gift fund. The Library appreciates the interest of community groups in its programs and collections. Library Receives Gifts The Gamma Theta Chapter of the Psi lota XI Sorority presented a check for $125.00 to the Speedway Public Library. This contribution will be used for additions to the new collection of classical music recordings. Four listings of recordings now available are ready at the circulation desk. This basic collection covers all periods of music from the Medieval and Renaissance periods to 20th Century works. Records are circulated for a period of 14 days.
