Hulman Wants Million $ Purse Tony Hulman said last night his goal as president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is to offer a $1 million purse for the 500-Mile Race. But, he added, he didn’t think that goal would be reached this year. "I’m so determined to increase the purse,” he asserted, "Anything extra that we must pay detracts from it. We are not progressing very fast.” Hulman also indicated the race could be run on Sunday for the first time this month if it should rain on May 30.

Meeting Held The Indianapolis Public School All-City Junior High Orchestra and Band Concert was held Saturday, May 9, at Arlington High School Auditorium at 8 PM. There are 300 boys and girls in 4 groups participating. Each earned his position upon recommendation of his teacher and by audition. They will have spent 10 Saturday mornings preparing tor day mornings preparing tor this concert. These 300 youngsters are from a pool of more than 8,000 children in Elementary and Junior High Schools who are learning to play musical Instruments and perform In the bands and orchestras of the Public School of Indianapolis. Proceeds from the concert go to support the Summer Music Camp (August 2-8) tor 250 young people from grades 6-12 who are members of the All-City Junior High groups and the High School Symphony. '
