FIREWORKS LAWS State Fire Marshal Norman M. Fesler and Robert K. Konkle, Superintendent of the State Police announced today that a joint effort is being conducted by their departments to insure compliance with the Indiana law concerning fireworks. “In interpreting the fireworks statute, the Superintendent and I are in agreement that certain items are unlawful and subject to seizure,” Fesler said. “They include torpedoes, sky rockets, roman candles, daygobombs, tablets containing explosives, and all other exploding fireworks, except paper caps,” he explained. The unlawful sale, use 6r possession of these items could result in' a possible fine of SIOO and up to 90 days in jail. Other fireworks devices not

The Midwests leading rodeo producer, Bob Rollins, will again furnish stock for the rodeo events. Top cowboys and cowgirls will compete in contests of bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull-dogging, calf ropping, girls barrel race and girls goat tieing. The rodeo events are on both days. Saturday morning will feature the big quarter horse show and Saturday afternoon will have the popular kids calf scramble. Saturday night will feature Rodeo and Western Events. Sunday will feature a big parade led by the colorful Sahara Grotto Horse Patrol, East Side Y Twirlers and Sahara Grotto Drum and Bugle Corps. Colorful cars, motorcycles, bicycles, floats, buggies, horses and novel costumes will also be featured in the parade. There will be a greased pig scramble Sunday afternoon. The Lions will have their usual good food both days including breakfast on Sunday morning. Lions members are now selling advance tickets at reduced prices. ALPHA DELTA OMEGA Epsilon Chapter will meet tonight, June 19th at the home of Lucille Forbes. Since this is the last meeting until Sept., it will start with a carry-in dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. The social committee will assist Lucille. There will be the regular business meeting plus initiation of pledges, installation of officers and convention reports. Epsilon was honored by having Evelyn Rosebrock elected as National Treasurer at National Convention held in Van Wert, Ohio, last weekend. Evelyn is also a national Past President. Girl Scouts to Hold Open House at Resident Camps Sunday, June 29 The Hoosier Capital Girl Scout Council will hold open house for Scout parents and friends Sunday, June 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Camp Dellwood, west of Indianapolis, and Camp Gallahue Valley in Brown County. Camp staff will be on hand to greet visitors and take them on tours of the respective camp sites. The resident camp season for 1,000 Scouts opens July 6 and continues through August 15. Two students from abroad will be on the camp staffs. Miss Pamela Abbott of Orpington, Kent, England, a Girl Guide leader, will be on the Dellwood staff. From Hjrring, Denmark comes Miss Bodil Madsen, also a Danish Girl Guide leader, who will teach Danish crafts, songs and folk dances at Camp Gallahue Valley. Day Camping opened June 10 and will end August 14 for 3,000 day campers at eight sites in the council area. Four Vagabond Camp Weekends, a new camping activity this year, have been scheduled for older Scouts where the emphasis will be on advanced camp skills and conservation projects. One of the popular camping activities at Camp Gallahue Valley is the trail ride. Girls ride Brown County trails and a colorful chuck wagon, a la west, carries their food. Fifteen experienced Senior Scouts will leave August 20 for an eight-day canoe trip in the Ontario (Canada) wilderness. Miss Helen Cline of Indianapolis will serve as director of Camp Dellwood and Miss Ruth Shibuya of Hawaii, a graduate student at Purdue, will direct Camp Gallahue Valley. Miss Shirley Lambert of Indianapolis is the director of the Vagabond Camp Weekends.
CHILDREN'S MUSEUM The Heiken Marionettes, always a favorite with the youngsters, will present a summer playhouse at the Children’s Museum, 3010 North Meridian, the last week in June. The playhouse will feature a different production each day, with three performances of each play. “Cinderella” will open the series on Tuesday, June 24, to be followed by “Hansel and Gretel” on Wednesday, and “Rapunzel” on Thursday. “Alice in Wonderland” will be given on Friday and Saturday, with “Alice at the Tea Party” on Friday and “Alice and the Queen of Hearts” on Saturday. (June 24-28) The marionette shows will be given at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 pm. each day. Admission to the museum is free, but there will be a 25c charge for theater tickets. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the museum or by mail, or at the door the day of the fJlay.
