Preschool Enroll now for nursery school classes beginning in the fall Speedway Cooperative Preschool still has some openings for both girls and boys in their three-and four-year-old classes. The three-year-olds meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and the four-year-olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings or afternoons at John Knox Presbyterian Church on N. High School Road. Parent Cooperatives are nursery schools run and owned by parents of children attending the schools. Each mother is required to assist a qualified teacher in the classroom about once a month. For more information or to enroll a child, please contact the membership chairman at 291-9737.
SCHOOL NEWS (Cbntmned from Page 1) April 10 Track meet Ben Davis, There April 11 Varsity & reserve track meet Ben Davis, There 4:30 p.m. April 12 State Speech Finals Each year from spring through fall some damage occurs to frontlawns of school grounds by young people playing on them after school hours and over weekends. Pupils are not permitted to use the front lawns during the school day, and it is expected that they not play on them or use them as walks at other times. Considerable labor and expense is incurred each year to try to keep the school lawns beautiful. At all schools there are adequate playground areas which can be used. It is hoped that all persons will help the school custodians in their efforts to maintain attractive lawns. Recently the four grade schools of Speedway participated in a Bundle Days Clothing Program. A total of 555 bags of clothing were collected and shipped to the needy children and adults in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The (Speedway) children were very enthusiastic and happy in their giving to these poverty stricken people.
