SFODWAY METHODIST CHURCH (Continued from Pogo 1) will be present with us for worship. Remember: children normally attending the 9:50 a.m. Sunday School should attend at the first worship Service school will take part in the 11 a.m. worship Service. As previously the Services will be designed with the younger ones in mind. The children will bring their gifts to place them round the Christmas Trees, and later these gifts will be taken to Christamore House. Make this a family worship Day. Our Children’s Choir will be taking part in both services . . . 2. A YOUTH BANNER FOR THE EMMANUEL CHOIR First, a sincere word of appreciation for the excellence of the Choral Worship presented last Sunday by the Chancel and Emmanuel Choirs. The music was of a high standard. Now the members of the Emmanuel Choir hope to construct liturgical Banners representing the various parts of the Christian Year (Advent, Lent, Kingdomtide etc.). The banners have been designed by Alice Ballinger, a member of the Emmanuel Choir. It is hoped that the Banner tor Advent will be put into Service on Christmas Eve. 3. CHRISTMAS AND POINSETTIAS Again Poinsettia plants will be displayed on Christmas Sunday. The price will be $7 for three blooms. Those wishing to have poinsettias displayed please contact the Church Office as soon as possible. 241-1563.
4. CAROLING This Christmas season our Youth and Junior Choirs will be taking part in special Christmas Carol presentations outside of our Church. We append below the program and suggest that as many as possible attend to give our young people the fullest support. Thursday 19th. 8— 8:30 Crusader Choir. Dr. Ray Montgomery will deliver the sermon at both services. Job’s Daughters from Bethel No. 3, Broadripple, will be special guests at the eleven o’clock service, with Miss Sue Taylor, Honored Queen. “Basics For Teaching” classes will resume next Sunday morning, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., and again on Wednesday morning, 10:00 to 11:30, and Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Child care is provided for the Wednesday and Thursday classes. The chancel flowers for next Sunday will be given by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dunlap in loving memory of their children, Mary Jane and Donald L. Dunlap; and Mr. and Mrs. Ray White, Jr., and children in loving memory of Mrs. White’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Chamberlain. If you wish to purchase a poinsettia for use in the church on Christmas Sunday and Christmas Eve, please call Mrs. Janette Spencer, Flower Chairman, at 244-1839, no later than Sunday night, December 15th. Chi Rhos will meet Sunday evening, December 15th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. They will go caroling after a warm-up session. Dress in warm clothes, bring a flashlight, and be prepared to leave promply at 4:00. After caroling through the immediate community, they will return to church for social hour and refreshments. Please phone in names of shut-ins (in the area around the church) who might enjoy having the Chi Rhos sing to them. The Young Settlers Class will have a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m., December 15th, at Merko Dotlich’s home, 3550 N. Kessler Blvd. Meat and rolls will be furnished. There will be a SI.OO gift exchange men bring a gift for a man, and women bring a gift for a woman. Everyone bring a gift for your child. Sr. High C.Y.F. will have a party December 15th for children at the Indiana School for the Blind (third and fourth grade boys and girls). All who wish to participate should bring a small, inexpensive gift, wrapped and with a removable tag indicating whether it is for a boy or girl. Meet at the church at 1:15, leave at 1:30. They will leave the School about 4:00 p.m. Drivers needed call Jim Crane by Saturday noon, 244-8669. The Christian Study Group will attend the morning service at St. Constantine and Elena, 3237 W. 16th Street, next Sunday, December 15th. Other adults interested are invited meet in Room B-l at 10 a.m. leave at 10:15. After the worship service there, a question and answer session will be held with Rev. Paul Cracium, the pastor. Choir rehearsals next week: Chorale Choir, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., and Motet Choir, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on WEDNESDAY; Angelus Choir, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., and Chancel Choir, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on THURSDAY. The Chancel Choir will have a Christmas party immediately following rehearsal, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Crone Knoy, 5626 W. 29th Place. C:W:F: Bible Study will continue on Monday morning, 9 a.m., in the Bethany Room. All ladies of the church are welcome to participate. The Executive Board of the Christian Women’s Fellowship will meet Wednesday Decembr 18th, 7:30 p.m., in the Jr. Hi Room. All members are urged to be present. Service Day will be Thursday, December 19th, in Fellowship Hall Claudia Circle is hostess for this month. Bring a sandwich for lunch and have a good time while performing a much-needed service. Anniversary plates are .available at the church office, or from Alberta Lambert or Margaife Dotlich. (These are china plates with the picture of our church and educational building on them.) These would make excellent gifts for friends, as this is probably the last time these plates will be ordered. Price is $1.75 including wall hanger. Tuesday night at 6:30, the LCW Christmas Party will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Following the pitch-in-dinner there will be a program by Mrs. Donald Elder. Don’t forget the gifts for the Girls’ School! Also at 6:30 on the same night are the regular Confirmation Classes. The Alcoholics Anonymous will hold their weekly meeting at 8:30 p.m. At 10:30, Tuesday night, the Metropolitan Lutheran Choir will present a Christmas Concert on Channel 8 T.V. Wednesday afternoon, 3:10, the Weekday Religious Education Classes will be in session. At 7:00 pm., the TOPS group win meet.
