SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH Continued from Page 1 The chancel bouquet for next Sunday will be given by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sanders in memory of Mr. Sanders* parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sanders, and brother, Jack Sanders. We were pleased to welcome into our membership last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. George Weeks, 6823 Wilton Court. Mr. Weeks transferred from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Elkton, Kentucky, and Mrs. Weeks brought her membership from the St. Stephens Episcopal Church at Terre Haute, Indiana. On Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, over WFBM-TV, a special presentation titled “The Antkeeper” will be shown. This is sponsored by the Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis. “The Antkeeper” is essentially a story about a gardener and his son who decide to raise ants to enhance their Eden-like setting atop a magnificent mountain The ants grow fractious and stubborn, and are tempted by the insubstantial but glittering garden of Bruja, and forget their keeper. The gardner decides he must send his son to live among them. The Sr. High C.Y.F. will meet Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. for election of officers, and “Variety Show” presented by its members. All Sr. High age young people of our church are invited to attend this meeting. The C.W.Fj Bible Study Group will meet in the Bethany Room on Monday, May 6th, at 9:00 a.m. All women of the church are invited to join them. Department of Christian Education will meet Monday evening, 7:30 p.m., in the Bethany Room. Three Circles will meet Tuesday, May 7th. at 7:30 p.m. Eunice Circle will meet in Fellowship Hall Mary Slipher will give the devotions, and the program will be “Today’s Japan presented by a Japanese student from Butler University. Hannah Circle will meet in the Bethany Room. Worship will be conducted by Mrs. Mary Harris, and the program “Japan’s Gift to the World” given by Mrs. Edith Griffin- Rachael Circle will meet in Room B-l. Worship will be conducted by Mrs. Nona Burdge, and the program “God in Christ” given by Mrs. Carolyn Stewart. Workers are urgently needed for working on the Fall Festival projects. These ladies meet every Wednsday at the Dotlich Farm, which is located one mile south of Clermont on Tansel Road. If you can come for all, or part, of the day, there is a job for YOU. If transportation is needed, check with the church office. Our Festival supports our Unified Promotion goal for the Christian Women s Fellowship, so constant support is needed throughout the weeks preceding the Festival, which will be held this year on September 28th. Choir rehearsals for next week are as follows: Motet Chori, 6:00 to 7:00, on Wednesday; and Chancel Choir, 7:30 to 9:30 on Thursday. The night session of the C.W.F. Institute will be held Wednesday, May Bth, at the Linwood Christian Church, 4424 E. Michigan Street, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. This is a dinner meeting, cost for meal is $1.25. At this meeting study materials for the year 1968-69 will be shown and discussed. All persons in any way connected with the study for the circles or Fellowship should attend this session (if they were unable to attend the day session April 30th.) Reservations should be made with Mrs. Merko Dotlich immediately. The Golden Rule Fellowship will meet Thursday, May 9th, in the Bethany Room. Claudia Circle is hostess for this month. The program will be “Women of the Bible” presented by Mrs. Marie Huber, Mrs Jane Spencer, and Mrs. Lena McDonald. Devotions will be given by Miss Verna McGee. The Los Amigos Class will hold its monthly class supper and business meeting on Friday, May 10th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. With most of us religion seems not to achieve what it should achieve, and faith is not as strong as it should be. Further the satisfaction and happiness that we are told should come from religion seems to elude us most of the time Here is an important theme for our worship next Sunday morning “Put Habit on the Side of Religion.” Installation and Dedication of WSCS Officers During the 11 a.m. Service on Sunday next there will be the Installation and Dedication of the newly-elected Officers of the Womens’ Society of Christian Service. We urge all members of the WSCS to be present for this important event Mother's Day Mother’s Day will again be observed on Sunday, May 12th. Let us make this a day when the family is together in church. During the 11 a.m. service there will be the Sacrament of Infant Baptisms. Will families wishing to bring infants for baptism please contact the church office. Reception of Members On Sunday, May 19th there will be the Service for the Reception of New Members. Will those wishing to become members of the church, please contact either of the ministers or the church office. "LITTLE RED DOOR" The Sewing Group for the little Red Door has been invited to attend the Annual Awards and Recogntion Tea on Tuesday, May 14, at the Indiana State Teachers Building. “Uncle Wally Nehrling” will be the speaker. Mrs. Jessie Stonecipher from the local sewing group will receive a pin for 250 volunteer hours. Reservations must be made by May 7th to Mrs. Beck, 244-0221. This Mass is being said for these special boys and girls, their parents, relatives, and friends. The Junior Kickball team of St. Christopher will play St. Gabriel Sunday afternoon, May sth, at 2:00 p.m. At the meeting last week of the PTO, the nominating committee presented a slate for officers. At their next meeting, Thursday, May 16th, an election will be held on these nominees and any nominees from the floor. This organization is open for the parents or guardians of children in St. Christopher grade school and for any adult interested in the school. The Holy Name Society will hold their next meeting on Sunday, May 19th, in the school social room immediately following the 8 o’clock Mass and a breakfast of doughnuts and coffee.
