High School and former Indianapolis resident was former editor of the West Side Messenger and is married to the former Anita Jean Flack. His mother, Mrs. Rosalie Whaley resides at 2124 Cord Street Speedway. Kay Rumbaugh, a 1967 graduate of Speedway High School, pledged Delta Delta Delta sorority at Indiana State University. Since Tri Delta colonized at State this February, Kay, along with her 43 pledges sisters, is also a charter member of this Tri Delta chapter.

Philip Ellis, 5468 Beauport Road, Speedway was elected treasurer of Sigma Pi fraternity at Indiana University. John Krom, age 17, of . 7116 Tina Drive is the winner of a four-year half-tuition scholarship to study music with a major in voice at Butler University. Last spring John was the winner of a Ist place trophy in the vocal division of the American Guild of Music Regional contests in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also won a Ist place medal in the vocal division in the Central-Southern Indiana Solo and Ensemble Contest in the public schools this year.
