PUBLIC NOTICE A public hearing for all persons interested, or whose property is or will be affected by a proposed local sanitary sewer to be constructed on 11th Street in the Town of Speedway, Indiana, between Lynhurst Drive and Norfolk Street will be held before the Board of Trustees of the Town of Speedway on Monday, November 27, 1967, at 8:30 P.M. at the Speedway Town Hall, 1450 North Lynhurst Drive, Speedway, Indiana. The Board of Trustees will conduct the hearing on the question as to whether the special benefits that will accrue to the property to be assessed abutting 00-ihe linci Qf the. proposed local sanitary sewer will be equal to the estimated cost of the improvement. The estimate of total cost of such improvement, as prepared by Henry B. Steeg & Associates, Inc., consulting engineers, will be filed with the Town’s clerk-treasurer on or before November 27, 1967. Westwood Swimming Invitational Westwood Country Club will hold its Bth annual Swimming Invitational Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25, and Sunday, November 26. Children 12 and under will swim on the first week-end and December 1,2, and 3, children 13 and over will swim. On the above dates the Westwood Country Club Swimming pool will be closed to its membership. Alpha Delta Kappa The members of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Teacher’s Sorority for Women Educators, will sponsor a tour and tea at the Indiana Stq£e Museum, 202 N. Alabama, from 2 to 4 o’clock, Sunday, November 19. Principals, Superintendents and school board members have been invited as special quests. On November 12, Albert M. McQuinn completed 25 years of company service with Union Carbide Corporation. Mac is shown here proudly displaying his gold watch award which was presented to him by Mr. Warren L. Donnelly, Vice President of the Materials Systems Division. Mr. Harold Whitmire, Manager of the Speedway Coatings Service plant presented Mac with his 25 year certificate. McQuinn joined the company in 1942 as a production operator and through promotions and transfers, he has progressed to his present position as Maintenance Mechanic, Group Leader. Coatings Service is the new name for the Flame-Hating business with headquarters here in Indianapolis. The worldwide organization s involved in the application of wear resistant metallic and ceramic coatings to precision made parts. Mac worked with the early pioneers in the development of the company’s patented Detonation Gun process. Mac and his wife Maymie reside at 120 North High School Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.
SPEEDWAY AREA UNION THANKSGIVING SERVICE The Speedway Area Ministerial Association is sponsoring a Union Thansgiving Service on Wednesday night, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m. The service will be held at the John Knox United Presbyterian Church on North High School Road at West 30th Street. The speaker of the evening will be The Rev. Thomas Flight, pastor of the Meadowdale Methodist Church. Assisting in the service will be The Rev. R. Powell Mead, pastor of the West view Christian Church. The John Knox Church choir will sing special Thanksgiving music. Other churches participating in the service are Speedway Methodist Church and Speedway Christian church.

The public installation will be held at the Speedway Masonic Temple, 1620 N. l THE TOWN BOARD REPORTS Bjrvßay L. Oath, Oark-Treasurar ______ The Board of Town Trustees of the Civil Town of Speedway held their regular meeting on November 13, 1967 in the Town Hall auditorium. Mrs. Alan C. Thompson, President of the Library Board made a progress report on the new Library Building. The Board authorized Lieut Robert Stierwalt to attend a Polite Supervision School at the Indiana University Campus in South Band, Indiana from December 4th through the Bth. 1967. {lids were opened on Water Mpin extensions for 1967. No award made at this meeting; AH bids to be checked and award will be made at the next meeting on November 27, 1967. A public hearing for interested persons on the 11th Street Sanitary sewer line will be held at 8:30 PM. on Monday, November 27, 1967. The Engineering Frm of Henry B. Steeg and Associates, Inc. is working on plans for the improvement of High School Road and a portion of Georgetown Road in 1968. The Board agreed to no parking on 25th Street from Lyndhurst Drive east to Georgetown Road on both sides of the Street Mr. Fred Scott and Mr. Bruce Sherman newly elected Board members attended this meeting.

Mr. Kelley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kelley, 513 S W. 14th St Miss Erickson was graduated from Speedway High School and is a junior at Indiana State University where she is a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Mr. Kelley was also graduated from Speedway High School and is a senior at Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute. He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. The couple will be married on Nov. 25th at 2:30 pm. in toe Speedway Christian Church. After a short honeymoon, the couple will reside in Tone Haute.
SPEEDWAY MUSICALE Speedway Musicale will hold their November meeting on the 28th et 1:18 at the home of Phyllis Schoonover, 5050 West 18th St Lillian ArmbuTst is co-hostess with Dee Rice and Guli Dees assisting. This month's theme is "South American Fiesta". The following program will be presented. "La Vidalita”—Violin and vocal—Martha Dickie “Andalucia”—Piano solo—Marilyn Gruenhagen "El Cuando” and "La Jesudta" Vocal ensemble—Roberta Rarick, Judy Clark, Sue Wise, Martha Dickie and Marilyn Gruenhagen "South American Christmas Songs’—Vocal trio, Judy Clark, Sue Wise and Roberta Rarick with Auto-Harp accompaniment by Birdie Frey. Closing with "The Calypso Song" by the ensemble. The program also includes selections from South American recordings.
CUB SCOUT PACK 66 The Thursday night meeting of Cub Scout Pack 66 was opened by Den 2 with Mrs. Robert Melvin, Den Mother. Den 3 assisted with the candle lighting ceremonies. Mr. Chris Schrock, Neighborhood Commissioner, assisted by Wayne Lockhart, Robert Melvin and the Den Chiefs held the annual uniform inspection. Three new Cub Scouts were inducted into the Pack; they were: Mike Owens, Jim Little, and Bret Bagley. One boy, Lloyd Mote, joined the Pack by transfer. B. G. Allison, Cubmaster, announced that our next Pack meeting shall be a Christmas Party. Each Cub Scout is to bring a gift for an exchange and are to bring canned food or a staple item for the needy family basket Sam Lloyd and Wayne Cofoid in the absence of Ernie Williams, Awards Charm an, made the following awards: service stars Gary Thompson and Tim Casady, attendance David Gary the number 1 and Bill Allison number 4. Advancement award Brad Melvin to Bear and 1 Gold arrow, Matt Haddock to Wolf, Larry Kay and Larry Love and Roger Eadens recruiter patches. Two boys having their 10th birthday in November became Webelos. Sam Lloyd, Webelos Den Leader held the induction ceremony for Bill Allison and Ricky Jones. Each boy received the Webolos neckerchiefs which was placed around their necks by their Mothers, and Mitch Feucht the Den Chief pinned on the color. Mrs. Ernie Williams, Den 7 Mother and her assistant Mrs. Lowell Blossom bid Bill and Rick Farewell and hoped for them success as Webelos. Wayne Cofoid presented the Dens the Summertime Pack Award ribbons. Den 7 closed the meeting with a Thanksgiving reminder ceremony.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE TONIGHT The Indiana Council of Churches will present the movie "Operation Friendship” tonight, Wednesday, as a part of the Annual Thanksgiving Service et St Andrew’s Lutheran Church located in toe Speedway Shopping Center, 5700 Crawfordsville Road. This 28-minute color documentary film will be premiered on NBCTV after December Ist The star of “Operation Friendship” is a seven-year-old migrant boy known as Hector. Hector Morin is the son of a migrant family who comes to Indiana each summer to work and his home is Pharr, Texas. The film shows what the church of today is doing to help toe migrant people who come to Indiana each summer. You are invited to begin your Thanksgiving observance tonight by attending toe service at St Andrews. The film will take toe place of the sermon. The service begins at 7:39 PM.
