Wear White At Night The Hoosier Motor Club urges all pedestrians, and children particularly, to be especially careful during the month of November when walking at night James W. Parks, secretarymanager of the AAA motor club, points out that this time of year can be very dangerous to drivers and pedestrians alike. “Twilight begins to fall at a time when many children are returning home from club meetings and visits to friends, “the dub official said. “Many tired drivers are heading home from work and are perhaps less alert than normally. Add these ingredients to the problem of reduced twilight visibility and you have the basis for the high number of nighttime acddents at this time of year.” Mr. Parks emphasized that many of these accidents can be avoided if pedestrians would take the simple precaution of wearing white after sunset. He urged parents to make sure children put on at least one white article before leaving the house to play after school. The monthly traffic safety poster distributed by Hoosier Motor Club to schools in this area shows the moon shining on those who wear white. The boy’s white suit reflects the light of the moon. Children will easily grasp this simple truth that wearing white can reduce some of the visibility problems prevalent during the winter months.

LiOiis Need Adveftisers The Speedway Lions Club is in the process of developing the New Speedway, Chapel Hill telephone directory which is in itself a mountainous job. Each home in Speedway and Chapel Hill is contacted to make sure of Telephone numbers, and the correct spelling and listing of names the directory will contain. The biggest part of the endeavor is being conducted now, that being the soliciting of advertisers, our source of revenue to pay for this project and other community services throughout the year. The Directory Committee is hopeful that they can go over the top this year in producing the best Directory ever, and are working hard in doing so. You, Mr. Business man, can make their job easier, and do yourself a favor too, by calling Lion Harold Rutledge at 241-4748 or Lion Paul Clarke at 291-0529 and ask for information and rates on placing your ad. Do it now.
