Gen. Mgr. Wilking Music Co. "With Children, Forget About Piano Practice" More and more parents with children taking piano lessons today have learned that practice doesn’t make perfect. But playing can. Children think of play as something enjoyable, while practice often falls in the unpleasant catagory of necessary duties that include picking up, scrubbing behind the ears and going to bed on time. So, I suggest that you treat the time your child spends at the piano as play time— a time to play the piano. Be appreciative of his or her efforts always. But don’t stand around and act too concerned that every minute be devoted to practice. Encouragement almost always gets better results than does too strict adherence to a schedule. The most important thing is to guide your child to play the drills and pieces regularly-every day. The time of day this takes place doesn’t have t o be the same, just so long as the time is put in. Try this and you’ll see what I mean. And remember, the name of the game is play. Send for your FREE Booklet, “He shall have music wherever he goes!” or “She shall have music wherever she goes”. Simply send your name and address to WILKING MUSIC COMPANY, 120 North Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204, with your request for the booklet of your choice.
