SCHOOL HEWS (Continued from page 1) June s—Commencement in High School Gym - 8:00 PJM. June B—Report cards issued in elementary schools at 10:00 A.M. June B—Eighth grade diplomas will be presented at 1:30 P.M. Baccalaureate and Commencement are scheduled for Sunday and Monday nights, June 4 and 5. Baccalaureate will be held in the auditorium with Rev. John L. Andrea of the Speedway Christian Church as the speaker. Commencement exercises will be held in the high school gymnasium with Dr. William E. Kerstetter, President of DePauw University, as the speaker. Both Baccalaureate and Commencement will begin at 8:00 P.M.
The year end schedule will be similar to that of recent years for all pupils in Speedway Schools. Under this schedule elementary pupils will attend school through Tuesday, June 6, will be out of school all day on Wednesday, June 7, and will return only long enough to receive their report cards at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 8. Junior high and high school students will attend classes and examination schedules through Wednesday noon, June 7, and will be dismissed at that time. Report cards will be mailed to them. Eighth grade students will return to the junior high at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, June 8, to receive their diplomas. In the Scholarship Day Program last week three seniors and fifty juniors were initiated into the National Honor Society by the fifty seniors who have been members this year. An average of eleven honor points per semester plus recommendation by teachers is required for National Honor Society membership. New members are: Seniors Wilena Crowder, Daniels and Mike Moore.

Speedway 6, Chartrand 1, and Speedway 6, Brebeuf 1. In the Marion County Baseball Tourney, Speedway won its first game by outscoring ferebeuf 4-1. In other regularly scheduled games Speedway won over Greenwood 2-1, and Speedway freshman 6, Northwest O. Speedway placed eighth in the Golf Sectional

SCOUT TROOP NO. 66 Boy Scout Troop No. 66, under the leadership of Forrest McGilliard, Ted Feucht, and Wayne Blind, experienced a very successful year which saw 6 boys promoted to Eagle rank, 8 to Life rank, 10 to Star rank, 15 to First Class, and three boys to Second Class.
