Speedway Jaycee News The week of January 28 to February 3 the Speedway Jaycees will be hosts to Julio Buis, pastpresident of the Panama Jaycees. He and three other Jaycees Foreign Ambassadors are visiting the state of Indiana for three weeks. During the week he will visit the Indiana State Legislature, Allison’s Bryant Manufacturing, Esterline-Angus, Merril-Lynch-Pierce-Fenner & Smith, Cross-roads Rehabilitation Center, and the 500 Race Track and Museum. On Friday, February 3, there will be a send off dinner for all four Panamanian Jaycees at the Holiday Inn Northwest. It will be attended by Jaycees from throughout the state. The annual Jaycee Mid-year Conference was held at French Lick, Indiana January 21 and 22. Attending from Spedway were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bilbee, Mr. & Mrs. Tom DeVille, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Lewis, Mr. Ronald Akers, Mr Harry Eakin, Mr. George Ervin, Mr. Richard Hartlen, Mr. Jeff Hill, Mr. Bin Ratekin, and Mr. Jack Wilson. The main speaker at the conference ' was Dr. Jim Turpin, head of Project Concern, and author of the book Viel-Nam Doctor. He told of his medical work with refugees in Hong Kong and with the mountain tribes of Viet-Nam. Other guests at the conference were the four Jaycee Ambassadors from Panama and Mr. Bill Suttle, National President of the United States Jaycees.
Psi lota Xi To Present Annual Musical Program Start making plans now to attend the 4th Annual Musical Program sponsored by Speedway’s Gamma Theta Chapter of Psi lota Xi Sorority in the Speedway High School Auditorium. This year the event will be held on Friday, Feb. 10th and again the Varsity Glee Club of Purdue will be presented. Mother Of Twins Club The February meeting of the Charter Chapter Mother of Twins will be 6n Monday, February 6 at the Indiana National Bank, 38th and Washington Blvd. The prgoram will be given by Edna Parsons on Liquid Embroidery. All mothers of twins are welcome. SWEETHEART BALL On Friday, February 3, the Sophomore Class of Cathedral High School will sponsor the “Sweethearts Ball” at the Cathedral High School Auditorium. This annual dance, begun some thirty years ago, will be a semiformal affair lasting from 8 to 11 p.m.

CANDIADATE FOR 1967 HEART FUND QUEEN Beauties from local high schools have been nominated for 1967 Marion County Heart Fund Queen, to be selected Saturday evening, February 4 at the eighth annual Junior Heart Board benefit dance in the Student Union building, Indiana University Medical Center. The Queen candidate from Speedway High school is: Diana Lippard. All hgih school students are invited to the dance, and proceeds will go to the 1967 Heart Fund. Tickets are being sold at $2.00 per couple advance sale, and $2.50 per couple at the door, and may be obtained from the Junior Heart representatives in each high school. Each ticket entitles the holder to one vote for Heart Fund Queen. Music is being furnished by “The Bristols’ combo, and special entertainment will be provided by “The Wind Singers”, folksinging group from Lawrence Central.
