American Legion Conference Indiana Legiormaries, assembled January 21-22 at the Shera-ton-Lincoln Hotel in Indianapolis for their Mid-Winter Conference, will cite the Lafayette Journal and Courier for its outstanding contribution to the morale of troops fighting in Vietnam. The Journal-Courier waged an intensive campaign during the recent holidays to promote sending of mail to the area Servicemen in Vietnam, carrying names and addresses of hundreds of Servicemen and inviting the sending of letters and Christmas greetings. Speaker for the banquet on Saturday night, will be the Hon. John A. Scott, Publisher of the Lafayette paper and former Mayor of South Bend. Scott will accept the citation from Department American Legion Commander Frank I. Hamilton of Greensburg. During the two-day conference, the Legionnaires will be holding twenty-two committee meetings and will hear from Richard Wells, incoming Superintendent of Public Instruction at a meeting on Sunday Morning. Approximately 500 members of the American Legion are expected for the annual meeting.
