ACCOUNTANTS 40TH ANNIVERSARY MEETING The Indianapolis Chapter of the National Association of Accountants is having a Special 40th Anniversary Meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 1967. Forty years ago the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Association of Accountants (then known as the National Association of Cost Accountants) had its first meeting in the Indianapolis Athletic Club. The Chapter is returning to the Indianapolis Athletic Club for its 40th Anniversary Meeting. The principal speaker will be Dr. Elvis J. Allison Receives Contract Two contracts totaling $13,932,000 have been awarded the Allison Division o f General Motors for production of T 56 turboprop engines for the fourengine Lockheed P3B Orion antisubmarine warfare plane. The contracts, awarded by the U.S. Air Force Aeronautical Systems Division, cover T56-A-14 engines for aircraft ordered by the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.

The engines, each rated at 4910 horsepower, will be manufactured at Allison Plant 5 on South Tibbs Avenue. First Bank Record Growth Continues First Bank and Trust Company’s record growth rate continued in 1966 with a 26.0% increase in total resources and 26.9% increase in deposits according to an announcement by Sanford P. Hunter, president. As of December 30, 1966 the bank’s total resources were $38.207, 794.36 up from $30,315,430.00. Deposits for the year increased from $27,304,582.57 at the end of
1965 to $34,643,628.09 for the past year. A 23% increase in loans (net of reserves) to $20,986,871.87 was registered in 1966 up from the 1965 total of $16,939,416.60. Total capital accounts reached $2,626,489.27 an increase of 17% or $388,156.96 more than in 1965. First bank has enjoyed a growth rate that makes it the fastest growing bank in Marion County. The institution recently announced plans for its sixth location to be opened later this year on the south side of Indianapolis at South Meridian Street and Troy Avenue.
LAUGHING SQUARES On December 23, at Krannert Y.M.C.A., over the sound of music, hand clapping and shuffling of feet could be heard the sound of small voices, the ringing of Eblls and a boistrous HOT Ho! Ho! The occasions was the Laughing Squares Family Christmas Dance and the graduation of the fall class of dancers Hillbilly attire will be the dress for the January 12th dance with Gene Haley calling. A special dance on January 22 at 6:30 pjn., with Mel Cresse calling to live music by the Wabash Valley Boys, will highlight the January square dancing activities of the Laughing Squares at the Krannert Y.M.CA.

SCOUT TROOP 500 Boy Scout Troop 500, sponsored by St. Christopher’s Church, awarded a number of pins and badges at their December 19 Court of Honor. Four boys just recently passed their Tenderfoot requirements. Receiving Tenderfoot pins and badges were: Mark Sterger, Phil McAtee, Tom Elliott and Danny Hess: Assistant patrol leader badges were presented to Jerry Betts, Danny Hess and Mike Ratcliff. New Patrol Leaders who will proudly wear their newly acquired badges are: Frank Glidden, Dan Kreiger and Al Such. Duane Zishka accepted the duties of Senior Patrol Leader when he received the Senior Patrol Leaders Badge. Kennan Zishka was honored by being presented the Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders Badge. Before adjourning for refreshments, the Troop and their parents enjoyed a film on summer camping. The Scouts found many practical suggestions in this film which will also be useful at a planned winter camp-out—The West District Winter Camporee at Camp Bradford on January 21 & 22.
