Basketball season tickets for students will be on sale after school beginning November 14 at $3.00 each. Adult tickets will sell at $5.00 each and will be on sale November 15. The first basketball game will be with Pike High School on November 23, in the Speedway gym. Further information will appear in next week’s Flyer. Speedway Novice Speech Team won the first place trophy at Peru last Saturday. Twentyseven other high schools participated in the meet. Individual honors went to: Bob Price, Ist place in Radio; Mike Potter, 3rd place in Radio; Linda Hackett, Ist place in Original Oratory; Gary McNeil, 4th place in Original Oratory; Laura Hittie, Ist pl acp in Girl’s Extemp.; Preston Sinks, 2nd place in Humorous Interp. Barbara Farris was awarded first place in the State Twirling Contest held recently.

Dr. B. L. Martz, Director of the Lilly Laboratory for Clinical Research at Marion County General Hospital, spoke to members of the Speedway Junior High School Science Club last week. Dr. Martz discussed recent studies in the field of medicine and points to be considered when contemplating a career in medicine. Mr. David L. Dalgleish is the Science Club sponsor. In a cross country meet with Beech Grove and Franklin Central, both the Speedway varsity and reserve teams won. Speedway placed 6th among the 19 schools who competed in the Cross Country Sectional Meet held at Tech last week. PORTRAITS of AUTUMN BAZAAR The Speedway Methodist Church Women’s Society for Christian Service will be having their annual bazaar November 2, 1966. It will be in the Fellowship hall from 11:00 aan. pan. This year the theme will concentrate on Hoosier Autumn. The Bazaar booths will be open during this time are Candy, Christmas items, Needlework, Used Toys, Doll Clothes, Inspirational Cards and Wrapping. Also, our Senior High MYF will have a booth to take orders for Holly and Nuts. The Pick-a-Pocket lady will be there for the youngsters. A Chili Supper will be served from 5-7 p.m. Tickets can be obtained in advance or at the door. Supper tickets are 50c for children and SI.OO for adults.
