Watch for them next Spring. Amblyopia—My Child Speedway Public School Kindergarten youngsters will have their eyes tested Monday, October 17th. Mothers of Speedway youngsters will be testing for Amblyopia, and eye defect which by an early detection and followed by professional eye examination and care may prevent permanent loss of vision. Any child who displays a need for professional eye examination may be found and thus given a helping hand toward a more productive school year for themselves and their parents. Our children —leaders tomorrow—let us be sure they look about and are able to observe the wonders of the world!

ORDINANCE No. 384 _____ * An Ordinance Concerning the Burning of Garbage and Trash BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF SPEEDWAY, INDIANA, DULY ASSEMBLED: Section 1. No person shall burn garbage within the corporate limits of the Town. Garbage is hereby or any other matter, within 6 feet Section 2. No. person shall bum outdoors any trash, leaves, weeds, or any other matter, with 6 feet of any structure, building, fence, shrubbery, bush, tree or any other flammable object; PROVIDED, that persons may burn such matter in a brick, concrete block, or masonry incinerator which has been approved by the Fire Chief or the Building Inspector. Section 3. After sunset and before sunrise, no person shall bum outdoors any trash, leaves, weeds, or any other matter. Section 4. No person shall, at any time or in any place, bum any matter whatsoever unless such burning shall take place in a container of metal, brick, masonry, or some other non-com-bustible material. Section 5. Violations of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be a nuisance and the Town is hereby authorized to abate such nuisances.
Section 6. Any person violating this Ordinance shall be liable to a fine of Ten Dollars ($10.00). Each violation shall constitute a separate offense, and each day during which a violation exists shall also constitute a separate joffense. x Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Speedway, Indiana, this 10th day of October, 1966. He received his advanced Radio Teletype Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia and is now in route to Viet Nam for assignment of one year.

BiMN-scorr Eastside United Presbyterian Church was the setting Sait Oct 8 for the wedding of Miss Elizabeth May Blain and William Henry Scott Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Blain are parents of the bride. Mr. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Burdell Scott 2421 Allison Avenue, Speedway. THE BRIDE’S gown was ivory silk-faced peau de sole accented by Alencon lace. Her viel was fastened by a band of seed pearls. Her cascade bouquet was white carnations and yellow roses. Mis Angela Costantino was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerry Baker of Noblesville and Miss Jane Scott of Speedway. They wore yellow satin gowns and carried yellow and gold Shasta daisies. Best man was Steven R. Bradley of Speedway. Guests were seated by Nicholas C. Nizamoff and John T. Lennie.
MRS. SCOTT was graduated from Indiana University School of Nursing and attended Butler University Graduate School. Her husband attended Butler and is a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will live at Speedway. RUMMAGE SALE A rummage sale will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the basememnt of St. Ann’s Church, 2850 Holt Road. Winter clothing, toys, housewares, ornaments and jewelry will be sold for the benefit of the Mill Hill Missionary Fathers. The Mars Hill bus from in front of Penney’s on the Circe will bring you right to St. Ann’s, and if you drive there is plenty parking space in the school yard. LIONESS MEETING The Speedway Lioness Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 17, at the Georgetown Village Apartments club room, 2500 N. Georgetown Road at 8 p.m. Mrs. Oscar Bender, chairman for this month’s program, announces that Georgia McGill representing John Grande & Sons florists will give a demonstration using artificial flowers. All members are urged to attend. WESTLAKE JUNIOR BASEBALL Annual meeting and election of officers for the 1967 year will be Tuesday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Wayne Township Firehouse on W. Ohio Street. Indian Guide Pow Wow 20th All dads from Speedway who have boys in the Ist through 3rd grade are invited to attend the Indian Guide Pow Wow on Thursday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. The Pow Wow will be at the Krannert Family YMCA, 605 South High School Road. Indian Guides is a Father and Son Program sponsored by the Krannert YMCA and its slogan, “Pals Forever”, is so important at the age when the son knows his father is the greatest man on earth.
The program follows the Indian theme and activities include tribe meetings twice a month, camping, handicraft, trips, Match Box Derby, and many other activities father and son can do together. Present Indian Guiders from Speedway will conduct the Pow Wow which is to explain Indian Guides to the fathers and invite them to join if they so desire. If a father and son is interested in learning more about Indian Guides, but cannot attend the Pow Wow, call the Y, 241-9313.

HANCOCK-RIGGLE In the chapel of the First Methodist Church of Findley, Ohio, Miss Judith Monece Hancock became the bride of Richard W. Riggle, Friday, bet. 1. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde S. Hancock, Findley, Ohio. The bridgegroom is the son of George T. Riggle, Speedway and the late Mrs. Riggle. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a three piece winter white knit suit with brown accessories. Her flowers were yellow baby rosebuds and she carried a white linen handkerchief, which belonged to her great-great grandmother. Miss Susan Gerber, Fort Wayne, Ind. was maid of honor. The bridegroom chose Robert W. Craig, Speedway, as his best man. The couple left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls. After Oct. 7 they will live at 208% Larkins, Findley, Ohio. Both are graduates of Speedway High School. The bride attended Purdue University School of Nursing and is a nurses aid at Blanchard Valley Hospital. The bridgegroom attended Indiana University and is a deputy auditor for Allied Appraisal Co.

FIRST BANK SURPLUS INCREASED A 38% increase in the surplus account of First Bank and Trust Company, was announced today by Sanford P. Hunter, president The First Bank surplus account now totals $1,100,000.00. Total capital accounts are now in excess of $2,600,000.00, an increase of 68% since June 1965. The increase in capital has been made to keep pace with the rapid growth of the bank. In the past few years, First Bank has grown at the fastest rate of all Marion County banks and last month announced plans for its fifth branch at South Meridian Street and Troy Avenue. PAY TAXES AT FIRST BANK & TRUST The public is invited to pay their Fall personal, property and real estate taxes at any First Bank & Trust Company office as a special service.
