An Anniversary Mass was said at 6:15 Tuesday for William Halfmann at the request of Nora Bray. The Howard Peters family asked that the 8 o’clock Mass remember Nelle Durack. s Eileen Harrold was remembered in the 6:15 Mass on Wednesday morning at the request of friends. John Quinn, the brother of Mrs. Helen Freund, was remembered at 8 o’clock. Nora Bray and the late Notie Stamm requested the Mass. This morning Henry Rosner was remembered at the 6:15 Mass at the request of Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Reihl. The 8 o’clock Mass was said for Joseph Rosner at the request of the Henry Rosner family. The Shallenger family are having the 6:15 Mass said tomorrow

St. Christopher Slo-Pitch Soft Ball team won Sunday ,by a forfeit from St. Malachy. They are scheduled to play St. Gabriel Sunday at 2 p.m. at Meadowood Park. Mrs. Marcella Sterneman of 2025 Allison Avenue went into the Deaconess Hospital, Evansville last Friday. She was scheduled for a thyroid operation Monday. Last Sunday afternoon our boys lost to St Anthony at Max Baehr field at softball, but our girls won at Justice field from St. Ann, 13 to 5. This was the girls’ final game. After the business meeting of the CYOers Tuesday evening of this week, they joined a youth group from St. Joseph parish, Lebanon, Indiana, and their moderator, Father Cloughley,. for a swim party at Marian. ’ Pray for a successful festival Pray your Rosary daily for peace in the world.

FEDERAL RECREATION PERMIT Available now to the public at Hoosier Motor Club headquarters, 40 W. 40th St, Indianapolis, is the $7 “golden passport,” Federal Recreation Permit, issued last year for the first time but greatly improved this year. James W. Parks, Hoosier Motor Club manager, made the announcement. The American Automobile Association, through its affiliated clubs, is designated by the Department of the Interior as major private distributor of the permit, which allows the holder and occupants of his car unlimited admissions to more than 7,000 Federal recreation areas in this country—including national parks and monuments.
Vacationists starting on extended trips, or planning several trips during the year, will find a money-saving advantage in purchasing the permits. The new wallet-sized permit replaces last year’s bumper sticker and can be transferred from car to car as long as the original purchaser occupies the car. An additional advantage is that it will admit the bearer afoot to places not ordinarily available by automobile, such as the Cur-tis-Lee mansion in Arlington, Va. Only the bearer, however, and not other members of his party, will be admitted without additional charge to such places. AAA distributes the passport on a cost basis, receiving no commission on the sales. All funds go to the government to be used for developing more outdoor recreation areas for the public. AAA recently received congressional praise for its support of the government’s “Operation Golden Eagle” program to buy new federal recreation areas and to assist states, cities and counties in providing more “near'

This team will meet the Leonard Park champs on Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00 am. on the Meadowood Park Diamond I. The Leonard Park teams will begin their playoffs on Friday, July 29, with the Red Sox meeting the White Sox at 10:00 a.m. The winner of this game will meet the Yankees for the Leonard Park championship on Monday, August 1, at 1:00 p.m. This team will then go to the championship game at Meadowood Park, Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the championship game, we would like to have all the boys who have participated in our Peanut League—players and coaches —to join us for a Coke party. At the Coke party, awards for the most valuable player selected by his teammates and coaches will be awarded. This will be held at Meadowood Park following the championship game.

Our single elimination tournament for the boys in the Junior High basketball has started on Monday in the “A” League. Bruce Hamilton’s ‘Torkers” defeated Danny West’s “Easterners.” Rick Rains* “Forecasters” fell to Tom Gilbert’s “Skinheads.” Mike Furndsh’s ‘Tanners” beat Jime Reimer’s “Reamers.” The winning teams will compete and finish the tournament today. In the “B” League, Jackie Havens’ “Angels” beat Dennis Delong’s “Darlings.” Scott Wagner’s “Wolves” downed Doug Case’s “Satchels.” Tony Harmon’s “Beatles” outlasted Larry Love’s “Lawyers.” Thesse boys will finish up along with the “A” team. A picnic and award program will be held for these boys on Friday, July 29, at 11:30 a.m. at the Leonard Park shelterhouse. In the Carroms tournament at the Leonard Park, Tom Berkhopes won the championship cup to become the park champion. Other winners were Div. II: Mike Henderson, first; Steve Williams, second; and David Lloyd, third. Div. 11l winners were Tom Berkhopes, first; David Henderson, second; and Ricky Crumley, third.

Art Groups Invited To Participate In Mile Of Art Festival The ninth “Mile of Art Festival,” staged by the Art Center Artists’ Guild, Indianapolis, will be held August 18, 19 and 20 at Eastgate Shopping Center. An unusual program of music, crafts and art exhibits and demonstrations is being planned for the three-day event.
