Then, Sunday afternoon St. Christopher Slo-Pitch Ball team will play St. Joan of Arc at 2 o’clock at Meadowood Park. They hope for a good rooting section to spur the team to victory and even up the score with St Joan of Arc. Christ the King defeated St. Christopher last Sunday in a hot, hard-fought game, 10 to 8. Joe Fleishmann (241-5481) is representative for St. Christopher’s team. One family was so anxious to eat at St. Christopher’s “Tops in Food” they couldn’t wait, so they came out last Friday night. They said that they saw the big sign at the corner of Lyndhurst and West 16th as they drove by, but didn’t check the dates. However, they said they’d be back. Announcements for the 6:15 daily morning Masses as well as the 8:00 a.m. Masses are now being made. On Monday morning the 6:15" Mass was for Henry Rosner at the request of the Immaculate Conception Discussion Group. The 8 o’clock Mass was said for the living and deceased members of the parish.

Student Summer Work Paul O. Roales, manager of the Youth Opportunity Center, Indiana State Employment Service, reports that so far almost 1,000 high school and college students have registered for summer work at the sth floor Youth Employment Service Office at 145 West Washington Street. “The Office, which specializes each year in finding summer jobs for students, has been filled to overflowing with young people wanting work in factories, offices, and other business establishments, as well as in private homes,” Roales said. “It’s amazing the variety of jobs these youngsters can do. Many college students are hoping for their first chance to get actual work experience in their chosen professions. For others, getting a job this summer will determine whether or not they can return to school in the fall.” Roales reports that up through last week 35 employers had listed 111 job openings with the Youth Employment Service. “This is a relatively small number when you consider almost 1,000 students have registered for work already and an additional 4,000 are expected to register during June,” Roales commented. He hoped that many more employers in the Indianapolis area would be able to make use of this large, energetic young work force.
