SPEEDWAY METHODIST CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) This Sunday we will welcome our new minister Rev James Grottick and new assistant minister, Rev. William Blessing to the pulpit. Rev. James Grottick will be preaching on “A Good Word for the Church.” The Carol and Crusader Choirs will sing “Look Upon Thy Children," and the Cherub Choir will sing “I AM So Glad,” both in the first service. The Chancel Choir will sing at the 11 ajn. service. All choirs will be recognized in both services. The Greeters will be Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pierce first service and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Fletcher second service. The Social Concerns, Membership and Evangelism Commission will meet tonight, June 9, at 7:30 pjn. at the church. Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. there will be a reception in Fellowship Hall for our new ministers and families, Rev. James Grottick and Rev. William Blessing. Pastoral Relations Committee and Worship and Mission Commission will meet Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. The Official Board will meet at 8 p.m. Monday, June 13 at 7 pjn. there will be a meeting of the Worship Commission in the Choir Room. All commission members are urged to attend. VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL starts Tuesday, June 14 through Friday, June 17 and continues the next week Tuesday- - T une 21 through Friday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day. The Sunshine Circle will have a Pitch-In Dinner on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Elaine Lane. There will be “Morning Moments” at the Tumbaugh home, 5724 Elaine Street starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 15. All Senior Highs are invited.

Speedway Associate Tri Kappa News Members of Province Eleven of Kappa Kappa Kappa met for its biennial conven|tion, Saturday, June 4, in the Severin Hotel. Registration and Coffee Hour were from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Delegates meetings, workshops, Art and Scrapbook exhibits, bridge and shopping were from 10:00 to 12:00. Luncheon was served at 12:30 p.m. and was followed by a short program. Mrs. G. Edward Snyder, Province Eleven Officer presided at the program. Mrs. Magnus Heubi, president of the State Council of Tri Kappa gave a short talk. Other officers of the Council were recognized as were officers from other provinces. A musical review, “Recollec-

Cook, president and vicepresident of the Speedway Associate Chapter were delegate and alternate delegate, respectively, to the convention. This chapter won the attendance award, which is based on the number of members attending in proportion to the total membership. The Associate scrapbook received an award for the most complete exhibit among the books displayed by the Associate Chapters in the province. Members attending besides Mrs. South and Mrs. Cook were Mrs. Charles Eversole, Mrs. Vernon McNaughton and Mrs. Earl Chadwick.
KRANNERT YMCA SWIM TEAM NEWS Krannert swimmers opened the summer season by participating in the Indiana Swimming and Diving Coaches Association Invitational Distance Meet at the Jordan YMCA on Saturday, June 4. Mark Chastain placed 6th in the 100 yard freestyle for the 8 year old and younger boys. Bruce Young placed Ist in the 400 yard freestyle for the 9 and 10 year old boys. Nancy Schleukter placed 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle for the 8 year old and younger girls. The Heart meet is with the Miramar Club at Krannert on Wednesday, June 22.

Candidates and their sponsors must be in the vestibule at 10:20 ajn. The Cathedral Clergy will assist with the seating and the checking of confirmation cards. Confirmation cards may be obtained at St. Christopher Rectory in advance. At eight o’clock on Monday morning the Mass was offered for the school children and their teachers at the request of Mrs. Popcheff. On Tuesday morning, the Mass was for the Bth grade graduates. Following the Mass, there was the Annual Graduating Breakfast in the school dining room. Invited guests were the parents of the fifty graduates, Father L. M. Lindemann, pastor of St Christopher, Father Paul Richart, Assistant Pastor, Father Peter Martich, assistant pastor of St. Pius X in Indianapolis, Father Cloughley, a Redemptorist priest from St Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, Indiana, the graduates’ two teachers, Sister Rose Clare and Sister Donna Maria, Sister Donna Maria’s parents from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Schlutz, a former teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Benedetto asked that the Mass on Wednesday morning be said for Henry Rosner. This morning the Mass was offered for the living and deceased members of the parish. Joseph Rosner will be renumbered in the Mass tomorrow morning at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. The Mass on Saturday morning will be for Frank Kreffel at the request of his widow, Ruth Kreffel. End of year’s schedule at St. Christopher grade school is as follows . . . today, June 9th, grades 1 through 7 had a school picnic from 10:00 ajn. until 12 Noon. School buses took the children home at noon. Report cards will be given out in the class looms immediately after the 8 o’clock Mass. School buses will then take the children home. CYO elected the following new officers .. . president, Bill Brothers; vice-president, Sandy Sunier; secretary, Mary Martich; treasurer, Mark Renie; and the following chairmen, Spiritual, Carla Ross; Cultural, Judy Gillispie; Athletic, Tom Aust; and, Social, Debbie Sunier. Freshmen will be inducted into the CYO Sunday evening, June 12th, and initiation will be Tuesday night, June 14th. Larry Zeph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zeph, was operated on June Ist, his 9th birthday, at Community Hospital. He came home Monday, June 6th. Mrs. Bernice McCarty is home from the hospital after surgery at St. Vincent on May 26th. She has been told to take it easy for awhile. CYO Paper Sale June 24th, 25th, and 26th.
