SPEEDWAY METHODIST CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) Dr. James Doty will be our guest minister this Sunday. He has just been elected the new president of Baker College in Kansas. For the last nine years he has served as Area Director of Pastoral Care and Counseling. The Cherub Choir, directed by Mrs. James Dickie, will sing in the first service, the Chancel Choir directed by Hal Meurer will sing in the second service. Seniors will be recognized in both servicees. Thursday, June 2, the Stewardship and Finance Commission will meet at the church at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 6 will be a meeting for the Trustees of the church at 7:30. This will be the first meeting for the new Trustees. The June General Meeting of the Women’s Society will be Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Rev. Gordon Clarke from the Indiana Migrant Ministry will be guest speaker. The Executive Committee of the Women’s Society will meet prior to the General meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 113. There will be no Fidelity Circle Wednesday, June 8. The “Little Red Door” sewing group will meet at 10 a.m. in Room 113 Thursday, June 9. There will be a meeting of the Social Concerns Commission and

The 1966 graduates from our church will be special guests at the nine o’clock service and will receive their gift Bibles at that time. Dr. Ray Montgomery will deliver the sermon at both services, and the Chancel Choir will sing. The chancel bouquet will be given by Mr. Esley Tabler in loving memory of Irene Tabler. The Mr. and Mrs. Class is planning a picnic to be held at the Meadowood Park, on Sunday afternoon, June sth, beginning at 1 p.m. Bring your children and come for a good time. You need not be a member of the class just come and get acquainted with everyone. Each family is to bring a basket dinner, including own table service. Cold drinks will be provided. There will be three Masses tomorrow at 6:15 and 8:00 in the morning and at 5:30 in the afternoon. Holy Communion may also be received before the 6:15 Mass, every 15 minutes between the morning Masses, at 11:45 a.m. and again at 8:00 pan. The hour assigned to the men of St. Christopher is 1:00 to 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Nocturnal Adoration, Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 14th and Meridian, Indianapolis. Members of the Altar Society will receive corporate Holy Communion at the 10 o’clock Mass Sunday, June 5. A Retreat for married couples will be held at the Fatima Retreat House, June 10, 11 and 12. St. Christopher grade school will close for the summer on Friday, June 10. Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Henry (Hank) Rosner who died Sunday morning, May 29. His funeral Mass was at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning at St. Christopher Church. At 8 o’clock on Monday morning, the Mass was said for the safety of the drivers and the racing personnel. The Shriner family asked that the Mass on Tuesday morning remember Frank Shriner. An Anniversary Mass for Roman Schenkel was celebrated on Wednesday morning at the request of the Dale Schenkel family. Joseph Rosner was remembered in the Mass this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jackson requested the Mass. Tomorrow morning the Mass will be said for Thomas Marshall at the request of Letha Medenwald and Marylee Sansone. Marie Stieglitz has asked that the Mass on Saturday morning be said for Harry G. Hogan. The first publication of the wedding bands of John A. Christopher parish was made Sunday. Bill Aust was elected vice-president of the Indianapolis Deanery CYO at the Deanery meeting last week. Father Richart was again elected to the Priests’ Directors’ Board for the CYO. Regular monthly meeting of the Altar Society was held Wednesday night, June 1, in the school social room.
