First Bank and Trust Report The First Bank & Trust Company, Indianapolis, Indiana which reported deposits of $27,304,583 on December 31st, gained 132 places in its standing among the 1300 largest commercial banks in the United States during 1965 and now ranks as 1298th largest in size compared with 1430th place at the end of 1964. Deposits of the bank totaled $22,951,023 a year ago. This is revealed in the 1966 Annual Roll Call of the 1300 Largest Banks in the United States published by the daily American Banker of New York, which is the trade newspaper of the banking business. There are approximately 13,500 banks in the United States.

PERSONALS Judy McClamroch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. McClamroch, 5741 W. 18th, win play the part of “Mama” in Molnar’s play “The Guardsman.” The play will be presented on the Hanover College campus Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5. Miss McClamroch, a junior, is very active in the theatre, having the female part in the “Fantasticks,” along with roles in “Rhinoceros” and “Three Penny Opera.” She is a member of the college choir. Speedway students in the Purdue University midyear graduation class are: Donna Ruth Bright, 5525 W. 16th Street, Science; Stephen Ent, 5040 W. 15th Street, Aviation Maint. Speedway Do-ers Homemakers Club The Speedway Do-ers Homemakers Club will meet Wednesday, March 9th at the home of Jackie Vogel, 2433 Allison. The co-hostess will be Flo Mosser. FARLEY-HARMON Miss Janet Sue Farley and H. James Harmon were married February 26th in St Andrews Lutheran Church in Speedway. Mrs. Harmon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Farley, 2129 N. Fisher. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Hannan of Dyer, Indiana. Attendants were Donna Spencer, Speedway and Gerry Chrisman, West Lafayette. Ushers were Robert Harmon and Robert Wragg, brother and brother-in-law of the groom. The couple is living in West Lafayette where both are attending Purdue University.

KRANNERT YMCA SWIM TEAM NEWS On Thursday, Feb. 24 the 12-year-old girls were defeated 42 to 44 at Krannert by the Westwood Country Club girls. Members of the Krannert team placed as follows in the Junior Olympic Short Course Swimming Championships held at the Jordan YMCA Feb. 25, 26 and 27. The meet attracted 630 swimmers. Bruce Young, who is not yet 9 years old, won second in the 50 yard free stye and fourth in the 100 yard free style for 10 and year old and under boys. Randy Balz placed third in the 50 yard free style for the 10 year old and under boys. Richard Long won second in the 100 yard butterfly for 11 and 12 year old boys. David Erne tied for third place in the 100 yard free style for 15 to 17 year old boys. Bruce Young, Mark Chastain, Randy Balz and Gary Minatel placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay for 10 year old and under boys. Linda Ludlow, Brenda Snapp, Peggy Keigher and Cindy Young place fifth in the 200 yard medley relay for 11 and 12 year old girls. Troy Colson, Dean Delano, Richard Long and Ronnie Neal placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay for 11 and 12 year old boys. Claudia Fry, Marilyn Lee, JoEllen Boyer and Faye Delano placed fourth in both the 200 yard free style relay and the 200 yard medley relay for 15 to 17 year old girls . Larry Peters, Terry Lawrence, David Erne and Steve King placed fifth in the 200 yard medley relay for 15 to 17 year old boys. The Krannert boys will have a meet at the Danville, Illinois YMCA on Saturday, March 5. Coach Bill Despres will be Meet Director for the State of Indiana YMCA boys swim meet to be held at Krannert on March 12.

AFNB Announces New Charge Card Plan

Mr. Norman J. McKinnon, vice president, Mr. Lloyd R. Howe, assistant vice president and Mrs. Kenneth F. Valentine, vice chairman of the board of American Fletcher National Bank welcome local retailers to join the AFNB charge card plan.
American Fletcher National Bank is launching a new charge card plan in the Indianapolis .area, as announced by Mr. Frank E. McKinney, chairman of the board and Mr. H. Prentice Browning, president of AFNB. This new service, available to all local retail businesses, allows a retailer to offer the convenience of charge accounts to his customers without having to set up a complicated and costly bookkeeping system. All charge account billing and collection will be handled through AFNB. AFNB is known for offering the “new look in banking,” said Mr. Browning. “It is only natural for us to take this progressive step and offer “the new look in buying.’ Many of the larger banks throughout the country have proven the customer preference for a bank-sponsored charge account service. The advanced development of the AFNB electronic data processing equipment now enables us to offer this service to families and businesses throughout the Indianapolis Hobby Hunters The Hobby Hunters Homemakers Club win meet Thursday evening at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Diana Keckey. Mr. Kenneth F. Valentine, vice chairman of the board for AFNB announced that Mr. Norman J. McKinnon, vice president, is in charge of the special Project Team, the AFNB Charge Card Division. “Mr. McKinnon and his staff have designed a program especially suited to retan practices in this area,” Mr. Valentine said. “The AFNB charge card plan is readily adaptable to nearly any size retail establishment,” according to Mr. Valentine. FASHION SHOW OF YESTERYEAR The Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Speedway Methodist Church is planning a style show. April 22, 1966, featuring the dress of yesteryear. At present many of the costumes are already available but there are still some eras up to 1950 where additional garments are needed. Speedway Methodist Church Vacation Church School The dates will be Tuesday, June 14 through Friday June 17 and Tuesday, June 21 through Friday June 24. The time is 9 to 12 in the morning. RED CROSS FIRST AH) CLASS Once again your PTA Health and Safety Committee is offering a Red Cross First Aid Course. Mr. Ed O’Farrell from the Speedway Rescue Squad will teach interested persons Monday evenings March 21st from 7:30 to 9:30. DR. GREENLEAF The second speaker at the Women’s Finance Forum to be held at I.U. Medical Center Students Union, will be Dr. Robert W. Greenleaf. He will be heard March 8 on the subject: “Investments.” Dr. Greenleaf holds a B.S. degree from New York University and a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Indiana University. He has been assistant professor of business administration at the I.U. Indianapolis Downtown Campus since 1959. The third Women’s Finance Forum, is sponsored by First Bank and Trust Company in cooperation with Indiana University Regional Downtown Campus.
