The Clothing Drive recently completed by the Speedway Elementary Schools was very sucessfuL A total of eighty-five bags of good used clothing was collected for the needy children in the Appalachian area. Hoosier children also benefited from the drive as a portion of the night-clothing for infants was given to the Muscatatuck school at Butlerville, Indiana. The teachers and administers wish to thank all who helped with this worthy cause.

Last Saturday morning the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Tests were administered at Speedway High School to 74 seniors from Speedway and surrounding schools. In the afternoon 5 seniors took the Scholastic Achievement tests. Mr. Floyd Troth was in charge with several high school teachers assisting. Speedway varsity basketball team won their first home game of the year in an exciting overtime with Mooresville that ended 77-73. In their second game during the weekend the varsity team defeated Brownsburg by a 65-38 score. The Speedway reserve team was also victorious in their games, winning over Moorseville 49-38, and over Brownsburg 44-35. In freshman basketball competition Decatur Central defeated Speedway 47-45. Speedway varsity wrestling team won its first meet with Greenwood 40-8, and Speedway reserves outscored Greenwood 4016. The freshman team lost a match to Woodview 46-8. Speedway swim team, Coached by Bert Zimmerman, has its first meet this evening with Lawrence Central. GIRL SCOUT NEWS The leaders of Girl Scout Troop 219, Mrs. Sharp, Mrs. Hood and Mrs. Morgan, recently planned and carried out * very impressive cadette rededication ceremony. Other troop activities have included a wiener roast and hay ride, attending the play "Pinocchio” at Northwest High School and visiting Mrs. Eddie, who collects and repairs dolls for the children at Muskatatuck. The troop will help collect dolls and doll clothing for this worthwhile cause.
