Mrs. Fred Scyphers Entertains Indianapolis Phi MuAlumnae Oct. 1 1 The Indianapolis Phi Mu Alumnae Association will hold sectional meetings on Monday evening, October 11th at 7:45. Mrs. Fred Scyphers, 1651 Cunningham Road is hostess for the West group. Getting acquainted with members in their respective areas is the purpose of the four sectional meetings throughout the city.
Speedway Alumni To Meet Richard Hartley, vice-president of this year’s Speedway High School Alumni Association, has announced that the Oct. 8 Football Game between the Spark Plugs and the Beech Gove Hornets will bee the official Homfe Coming Game this year. All Speedway Alumni and their guests are invited to attend the reception after the game at the High School Cafeteria. Speedway Homemakers Members of Speedway Homemakers will be guests of Mrs. Grace Hole at her home, 1429 Roseway Street, on Thursday, October 14th. A covered dish luncheon will be served at 11:30 am. The hostess will furnish meat, drink and rolls, and assisting her will be Nila Heston, Anne Bozich, Fran Gebaur and -Judie Noble. Young People's Concert Young People’s Concert by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Izler Solomon, conducting, will be held at Clowes Memorial Hall, 2:30 and 3:45 pm., Sunday, Otcober 17. ART WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED The Amateur Art Show paintings to be sent to the Home Furnishing Show at the State Fair Grounds, October 3 thru 10, were announced Sept. 28. They will again be judged at the Home Furnishing Show and prizes awarded. Those receiving awards in the adult division were: Mesdames D. Clark, Carol Clemons, June Welch, Helen Creviston, Mary Byerly, Mildred Gross, Virginia Dooley, Frances Bush, Mary Gaelema, and Vera Wilson. In the children’s division awards were given to Richard Probst, Michael Lockhart, Theressa Deßoy and Kenneth Bacon. YOUTH ACTIVITIES AT x KRANNERT Y.M.C.A. The Krannert Y.M.C.A., 605 S. High School Road, is sponsoring Jr. and Sr. High night activities on Friday evenings. These activity nights are open to all interested students who wish to participate in the programs. A variety of activities will be offered including dancing, to the music furnished by WIFE D.J.’s. The New Youth Department game room offering ping pong, pool, chess, and a relaxful TV lounge will all be available to Jr. and Sr. High youth on their respective evenings, as well as a snack area where you can sit talking over a coke. Dine-Harrell Miss Ahron K. Dine and Mr. John R. Harrell were united in marriage on October 2, 1966 at 2:30 pm. in the Devinton Baptist Church, Indianapolis. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence M. Dine, 1853 N. Lyndhurst Drive, Speedway. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin H. Harrell, 1130 East 105th Street, Indianapolis. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown had a Chapel length train of re-embroidered Alencon lace and seed pearls highlighting
the gown of ivory skinner satin. The bodice featured bridal point slevees and appliques of reembroidered Alencon lace and seed pearls. Her silk illusion elbow length veil was secured by a crown of Alencon lace, seed pearls and crystal beads. Her bouquet was centered with a white orchid surrounded by stephanotis and yellow rosebuds. It featured artificial fruit, purple grapes and wheat. Miss Beverly Dine was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of coral delustered satin. Her circular veil was secured by a ringlet headdress which matched the gown.
The bridesmaids were Mrs. Thomas Freeman, Mrs. Richard Lasbury, Miss Linda Logston, all of Indianapolis and Mrs. John Sisson of Kokomo. Their gowns were identical to the maid of honor’s gown in style but were of olive green and antique gold colors. Their headdresses were in colors to match their gowns.
All the attendants carried wicker baskets fill with wheat, cattails, straw flowers and autumn colored fall flowers. Best man was Mr. John Shockley of Nashville, Tenn. Groomsmen were: Mr. Monty Russell, Mr. Arthur Van Al lon, Mr. Thomas Freeman and Mr. Raymond Scott, all rs Indianapolis. Ushers were Mr. William Ramsey, Fort Gordon, Georgia, Mr. James Harper and Mr. David Scott, both of Indianapolis. The flower girls were Susan and Sharon Shockley, daughters of the best man. They wore floor length gowns of shrimp colored taffeta. Ring bearers were Mark Van Allen, Indianapolis and Bruce McClurg, Des Moines, lowa. Allison Executive Appointments Harold H. Dice, vice president of General Motors and general manager of the Allison Division has announced several executive appointments to the staff of Allison’s Indianapolis Plants. They will report to James E. Knott, newly-appointed Plant Manager of the Indianapolis plants. Gordon E. Holbrook was named Director of Engineering. Keith H. Hoffman was named Director of Materiel. James E. Dickerson was named Resident Comptroller. Carl A. McLear was named Personnel Manager. Frank J. Giorgianni was named to a special assignment to assist in an accelerated activity in tool design and procurement. The appointments were effective October 1.
