Student Council officers elected for the 1965-66 school year are: President, Jim Moschenross, Vice-President, Pam Mathis, Secreetary, Bobbie Brooks, Treasurer. Julie Noble. Speedway and Carmel played to a 7-7 tie at Carmel last Friday night. Speedway plays undefeated Greenwood at Speedway in a Mid-State Conference game this Friday night. In other football games played last week the Speedway reserves won over Beech Grove, 14-0; Speedway freshmen lost to Plainfield, 40-ts; Speedway Bth grade tied Plainfield 7-7. In a cross country meet held recently Northwest varsity defeated Speedway 24-34; Northwest reserve placed over Speedday 24-31; and Speedway freshmen won from Northwest 22-33. LIBRARY NOTES: The Senior High School Library is open four late afternoons each week for the convenience of students and adults of Speedway. Hours are from 4:00 to 6:30 Monday through Thursday. Fine Arts Center Dedication At Indiana Central A retired educator, an air force chaplain and a university dean will receive honorary degrees Saturday, October 2, at the dedication of the new Leah Ransburg Fine Arts Center at Indiana Central College. Other features of the event include chamber music, an open house, and a nine-day art exhibit. The public is welcome to attend all without charge. The formal dedication program will be in Ransburg Auditorium of Academic Hall at 2 p.m. The other events will take place in the Fine Arts Center, which occupies half of the just remodeled Administration Building, the edifice with lonic columns which originally was the first and only college building on the campus.
FORUM SERIES Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine, of the Birmingham Temple in Birmingham, Michigan, will open a new Jewish Community Center Forum Series, Sunday, October 31, at 8 pan., at the Center, 6701 Hoover Road. Rabbi Wine, whose controversial statements regarding theology have rece vi e d wide notice in both the Jewish and secular press, will discuss the question, “Can Judaism Surwie?” The Center Forum will include six sessions, highlighting leading public figures in discussion of current issues. Series tickets are available at the Center at a cost of $3.00 to members and $5.00 to non-members. Single admission tickets may be obtained for 75 cents for member and SI.OO for non-members.
