I.T.S.C. The Adelia Chapter-Interna-tional Travel-Study Club will meet Monday, October 4th at the Hawthorn Room. Hostesses for the meeting will be Virginia Dowty, Alice Jacobs, Mary Hanson and Jessie Nay. Mrs. Raleigh S. Miller will speak on the topic, “New Zealand, Land of Kiwi.” Town Board Reports By Ray L. Oeth. Clerk-Treasurer The Board of Town Trustees for the Civil Town of Speedway held their regular meeting on Monday evening, September 27th in the Town Hall auditorium. Mr. Ellsworth Maxwell, Resident Study Administrator of the Indianapolis Regional Transportation and Deveopment Study, gave the Board a full report on the study to date this group has made.
Mr. Cal Morgan, Sanitation Department Superintendent reported to the Board the unsatisfactory performance of the trash and garbage Contractor. The Board instructed che clerk to make an official complaint to the Contractor in accordance with the contract giving him ten days to correct the conditions. Mr. Ward, representative from thee Prudential Insurance Company was present to answer questions relative to the Group Insurance program which goes into effect January 1, 1966 for Town employees. Mr. Max Wililams presented plans for a garage building to be erected at the Water Treatment Plant. Bids will be taken at a future date. Mr. Williams also advised the Board that a District Water Works meeting will be held at the Holliday Inn in Speedway on Oct. sth. Speedway is the host for this meeting. Mrs. Alan Thompson appeared before the Board and asked that a statistical report be published of the Police Department activities for information to the residents. After some discussion the Board instructed the Clerk to include such a report with his regular column after each meeting of the Board.

After leisurely eating and visiting by candlelight, Mrs. Ray Griffin gave a most entertaining book review of “Sixpence and Her Shoe” by Phyllis McGinley. Guests for the evening were Mrs. Jerry Ferrell, Mrs. Grace Whitson, Mrs. Earl F. Hanilton, Jr., Mrs. Douglas Alleen, Mrs. Patrick Robbins, and Mrs. Horace Ten Eyck. Chairman, Irene Mingle, was assisted by Ruth *lhomas, Dulce Sawyers, Ruth Park and Janet Scheefer.
PERSONALS Miss Jane Curry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Curry, 50Q5 Ford Street, is a member of Gamma Sigma Pi, upper-class-man scholastic honorary at Hanover College. Membership in this organization requires Em accumulative scholastic average of at lesist 3.35. Sixteen students, enrolled in the largest senior class in the history of the Indiana University Medical Records Program, have begun classes at the I.U. Medical Center, according to Miss Gertrude Gunn, director of the course. Upon completition of the fouryear course, they will receive the B.S. degree in medical record science, and become eligible for examination and registration by the American Association of Medical Record Libreirians. Student from Speedway is Mrs. Marcea (Harold) Hefner. Miss Sandy Husser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lee Husser, 2610 Park wood Drive, Speedway 24, Indiana, is a new pledge of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at Butler University. She is among 124 Butler coeds who were pledged to six Greek letter organizations as a climax to the annual Rush Week. Miss Husser is a sophomore at Butler majoring in Elementary Education. Three Speedway students are enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program at the Indiana University School of Dentistry: Miss Bonnie Enlow, 1729 Norfolk; Miss Anita McCrackin, 5725 W. 25th Street; Miss Sheryl Thomson, 2114 Winton. Chapel Hill Branch Peoples Bank & Trust Opening
Jerry Johnson The new Chapel Hill Branch of Peoples Bank & Trust Company, located in the new shopping center at West 10th Street and Girl’s School Road, is having its Grand Opening Celebration Wednesday, September 29 through Saturday, October 2. The office will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily during the opening festivities. During the four-day Grand Opening there will be refreshments, souvenirs, and a regstration for prizes for all visitors
to the bank. The drawing will be held at 7:00 pm. Saturday, October 2, for several grand prizes. However, winners will not have to be present to win. Jerry Johnson, manager of the new Chapel Hill office, said that SI.OO will be added to any savings account of SIO.OO or more opened during the four days of the Grand Opening. PSIOTE PROVINCE MEETING Mrs. Charles M. Clark and Mrs. Donald Ross of the Gamma Theta chapter of Psi lota Xi sorority were delegates to the Central Province meeting at Waynetown, Indiana. Beta Chi chapter members converted the High School gym into a music room, library and an art gallery; in keeping with their theme “Psi Otes Blow Your Horn, Music, Art and Literature.” As Central Province Chairman, Mrs. Faucett interduced Mrs. Robert Endslety, National President of the sorority. Mrs. Endsley, moderated during a question and answer period. Everyone enjoyed the experiences of “Teaching in a Foreign University” as told by Miss Janet Bunnell. Wedding Date Set Plans are being completed for the November 6th wedding of Miss Sarah Ann Tepfer and Frank Vanard Sherman, son of Mrs. Vernard Sherman and the late Mr. Sherman. Miss Tepfer is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Milton Tepfer, 4746 Jennys Road. Miss Tepfer attended Butler University. Mr. Sherman is a graduate of Butler and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force in August. A series of social affairs have been held in honor of the bride. The wedding will take place at St. Christopher Church at 11:00 o’clock in Speedway. The couple will be honored with a reception at the “500” Speedway Motel, 4400 W. 16th St.

Messiah Lutheran To Celebrate sth Anniversary Messiah Lutheran Church, 4141 North High School Road, will celebrate its fifth anniversary at its 10 30 a.m. service, Sunday (Oct. 3). Guest speaker will be the Rev. Walter C. Birkner, D.D., secretary of missions and church extension of the Indiana District, Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, Dr. Birkner, who aided in the organization of Messiah Church, served as secretary of the Missouri Synod for many years. A recetion will be held after the service Sunday for Dr. Birkner and fEunilies new to the church. A special memento will be given to Dr. Birkner for the part he has played in Messiah’s organization. The Rev. Alfred Hellert, pastor of the Messiah, will be the officiant at the service. Special music will be presented under the direction of Mrs. Michael Bilo. Messiah Church was organized in 1980 and first held services in a storeroom at 3011 Guion Road. The Rev. E. C. Kuehnert, then institutional chaplsun at General Hospital, served as interim pastor. Rev. Hellert was ordained on July 19, 1961, and the present sanctuary was dedicated in March, 1963. The church started with about 30 members and now has 300 members.
