REGISTERED NURSE RECRUITMENT With the projected increase in the Armed Forces, the United States Army is now recruiting registered nurses for two years active duty as commissioned offiers. Registered nurses who qualify for the Army Nurse Corps currently may request assignment for the two year tour of duty in Alaska, Korea, Okinawa or Germany. Those nurses who are specialists in operating room nursing or anesthesia may request assignment in Viet Nam. Following a six and a half week orientation course at the Army Medical Field Service School in San Antonio, Texas, the new officers will be guaranteed assignment in the area they select overseas. Nurses who prefer an assignment in the United States may request one of a selected number of Army hospitals stretching from coast to coast.
