aircraft, the Lockheed P3-A Orion. It is similar to the A-15 which is used in the Air Force cargo aircraft, the Hercules C-130. Rated at 4910 horsepower, the A-14 is the latest and most powerful turboprop in the T 56 series. This increase in power is due to air-cooled turbine blades, which have been under joint development by the military and Allison for approximately six years. The air-cooled blades operate at temperatures some 200 degrees hotter than uncooled blades.
