There will be no M.Y.F. meeting on the 30th. A reverent memorial service honoring our dead in the nation’s wars will be held Sunday, May 30 (Memorial Day) on the South Steps, Indiana War Memorial, with members of the three faiths participating. The 3:00 service, to last 30 minutes, will be preceded by a concert by the outstanding U.S. Army Field Band, Washington, D. C., starting at 2:30 pm. MEMBERSHIP AND ORIENTATION CLASSES for the June Membership Class will begin June 6 at both 10:00 am. and 7:00 pm. You only have to attend one or other of these—not both. Thursday, May 27, is the General Meeting of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. The pitch-in supper will begin at 6:30 pm. New circle assignments for the coming year will be announced at this time. Dr. and Mrs, Burleigh Matthews will show films of their trip to India. Ann Zishka is the class valedictorian of a class of 72 girls being graduated from St. Mary Academy, Indianapolis, at 8 pan. Wednesday, June 9th. David L. Noblet is class salutatorian of a class of 186 boys graduating from Cathedral High School, Indianapolis, at 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 7th. Guy Cummings, an eighth grader in St Christopher school, was one of the boys who received the Altar Boy Medal Wednesday, May sth, during the annual Serra Club honor night in SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral from Archbishop Schulte. Gary Thrash of St. Christopher school was one of the four recipients of the Bernard Scholarships to Cathedral High School, as recently announced by Brother James Sullivan, C.S.C., principal of the school. On Monday morning at 11:15 the Mass was offered for John J. Haney at the request of Grace Haney and daughters. Gustav Stiglitz was remembered in the Mass on Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Pitman requested the Mass. The Joseph Beberdick family asked that the Mass on Wednesday morning be said for Joseph Aulbach. On Thursday, a Holyday of Obligation, the High Mass will be said for the living and deceased members of the parish. An Anniversary Mass for Jack Craig will be said on Friday morning at the request of the family. The family has also requested the Mass at 8 o’clock on Saturday morning remember Jack Craig. There will be no more High school instruction classes until Fall.
