TOWN NOTICE (Continued from Page 1) town Road and No. 136 and Lyndhurst Drive. Mr. Lawrence Leonard was asked to check to see if all the lights at these two intersections were needed before taking on this cost. At 8:00 p.m. bids were opened and read by the Clerk covering contract to be let for Street work in 1965. Bids were received from Roadway’s Inc., F. S. Grady and Sons, Inc., AVCO Construction Company and Vogel Construction. After all bids were checked by Mr. Lou Jackson, Street Commissioner and Board member Mr. W. D. Wood the contract was awarded to Roadway’s Inc. as the low bidder. Actual Street work has been scheduled to start on June 10th. Mr. Roger Pate, Consulting Engineer for the Town of Speedway presented plans for a new Storm Sewer to be constructed from Lyndhurst Drive to Dry Run Ditch on 20th Street. The Board reviewed the plans and instructed Mr. Pate to complete them and the specifications for their approval at the next meeting in order that bids might be taken. The Board had further discussion on a possible Cat Ordinance but Mr. Jack Rogers, Town Attorney informed them he could not locate any such ordinance elsewhere. It was decided that this be dropped. The Board does appeal to all persons having Cats to please consider your neighbors and don’t let the cats roam all over the neighborhood. The Board approved the Clerk’s attending the Clerk-Treasurer’s Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 12th and 13th. Ray L. Oeth, Clerk-Treasurer

PARK NEWS (Continued from Page 1) years of fine work for the community. I personally wish to thank her for the service she has rendered to Speedway and the assistance she has given to this program. Miss Martzell is a teacher in the Speedway system and comes highly recommended. We welcome her and hope you will become acquainted with her. The parks supervision will be open from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. We have games and activities for all ages. There are picnic facilities, Horseshoe, basketball, tennis, shuffle board and baseball facilites at each park. A schedule of the various tournaments for young people will appear at a later date. The Junior-Hi summer Basketball program will begin Tuesday, June 15 at 8:00. This program is for Speedway boys who will be in the 7th, Bth or 9th grade this next school year. This program will be held daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 until 10:00 at the Speedway High School basketball court. Boys will be directed on fundamentals of the game and will participate on a team in a regular league and will play in each game. At the close of the summer an elimination tournament will be held. Awards for league winners and tournament winners will be made at a party during the last week. Our Peanut league baseball for boys 6-7-8 who are not in another league will open June 14. Registration and practice at Leonard Park at 10:00 Monday and at 1:30 on June 14th at Meadowood. Boys should bring ball gloves. This
program is designed to give these youngsters a chance to play baseball with boys their own age. Each boy will be put on a team and will play at least two innings of a four inning game when his team is scheduled to play. The purpose of this program is to acquaint the boys with a few of the rules and techniques, to arouse their interest in the game, and most important, to have a good time. We de bend the rules occasionally to benefit the boys. We don’t attempt to coach these little guys at great length. We have found that some of our boys do well and some do not. Over a period of three years those boys who stick with this program show great improvement in baseball skill and in personal maturity.
