A REVIEW On Sunday evening, April 25th, at 8 p.m., in the social room of St. Chrisopher School, 5335 West 16th Street, the Altar Society will present Father Gregory Foote, a member of the faculty at Indianapolis Brebeuf Preparatory School in a review of the North American Martyrs, illustrated by slides. Coffee and cookies will be served in the social hour which will follow the review. Tickets may be purchased at the door . . . adults seventy-five cents, student fifty cents. BENEFIT DANCE A “Spring Swing” Dance under the auspices of the Assumption P.T.O. will be held Friday, April 23rd at the Westside Knights of Columbus Hall, Country Club Road at US. 36. v Dancing will be to the music of “The Profiles” featuring Don Billups as Master of Ceremonies, starting at 8:00 pan. to 1:00 am. During the intermission music will be provided by “The Vestmen” with Lary Fiest on drums and Joseph “Scotty” Ball on guitar. Continuous door prizes will be awarded all evening. PttSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ward, 5325 Dunk Drive, announce the birth of a son, Steven Thomas, bom March 23. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Siefers are the proud grandparents. Eleven Indianapolis area students at Ball State University are members of the Marching Mademoiselles drill team which is participating in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D. C., April 7-14. The Angel Flight, consisting of 46 girls, will participate in the Cherry Blossom Parade, compete in the Drill Meet, and attend the Angel Flight National Conclave during their one-week stay in Washington. Last year at the Festival the Ball State group was named Number One Coed Drill Team' in the Nation. Cadet Colonel Richard A. Nester, senior, 1845 Eisenhower, Speedway, is commander of the drill team. Speedway member of Marching Mademoiselles is Janet Wilshire, 2586 North Lyndhurst, Speedway. Steve Maple, 1815 Ellen Dr., Speedway, a 1962 graduate of Speedway High School, is the newly elected president of the Central Council, the student governing body of Indiana Central College. The balloting was done by the entire student body.
TORNADO DONATIONS The Indianapolis Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is soliciting cash contributions for needy victims of the devastating tornado which struck 18 Indiana counties on Palm Sunday evening. Contributions should be sent to the local Red Cross Chapter, 1126 North Meridian Street. Food, clothing and shelter were provided by Red Cross for tornado victims during the emergency phase of the disaster and now the big job of assisting in the rehabilitation phase has begun. According to a family’s individual needs, houses may be repaired or rebuilt, homes refurnished and medical care paid for. The help given to tornado disaster victims is an outright gift from the American people without any repayment to Red Cross.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR FESTIVAL The Angelus and Chorale Choirs of Speedway Christian Chun* will be among the thirty-four choirs participating in the eighth annual Indianapolis Children’s Choir Festival, to be held this Sunday at 4 pan. in Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian. The festival, sponsored by Christian Theological Seminary, will be directed by Dr. James Carley, professor of music at the seminary. AH of toe choirs have been working for some months learning the music, and will combine to form a choir of more than 600 children. Nine denominations are represented, and in addition to choirs from Indianapolis churehes, participants will be from Anderson, Columbus, Conners ville, Greencastle, Kokomo, Lebanon, Saint Paul, Speedway, Southport, and Vincennes. The parking lots at Second Presbyterian are ample and the sanctuary large. You are invited to attend this outstanding service of worship through music.

H. C HAZELWOOD Funeral services for Henry C. Hazelwood of Indianapolis, a locomotive engineer who died of a heart attack Saturday while his freight train was stopped at Montezuma, were held at 18 am Tuesday at Conkle Speedway Funeral Home. Burial was in Flora Park Cemetery. Mr. Hazelwood, 41 years old, 630 North Livingston Avenue, had been an employe of the Baltimore Sc Ohio Railroad 15 years and was chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, Lodge No. 673. He was a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge. A forma: resident of Speedway, Mr. Hazelwood was a member of the Speedway Police Force, and had managed toe Speedway Theatre He was a veteran of World War H. Survivors include toe widow, Mrs. Norma Dryer Hazelwood; a son, David Hazelwood; three daughters, Miss Debra Hazelwood, Mrs. Kathy Phillips and Mrs. Linda Wyland; his mother, Mrs. Stella Hazelwood; a sister, Mrs. Mary Woodlock, and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Maschine and one grandchild, all of Indianapolis.
PACK 66 The monthly meeting of Pack 66 will be Thursday evening, April 22 at 7:30 at Newby School No. 2, 1849 N. Whitcomb Ave. Two boys will become new Cub Scouts this month. They are: Bobby Kulaga and Michael Strack. Awards will be presented to those boys who have earned them.
JAYCK EASTS! EGG HUNT SUCCESS The Easter Egg Hunt for children of Speedway, sponsored by toe Speedway Junior Chamber of Commerce was bailed a huge success by the 200 participating children and their parents. Meadowood party was virtually alive with toe squeals of delighted children finding Easter Eggs hidden by the Jaycee Easter Bunny and his many Jaycee-Jaynes helpers. The Jaycee and toe JayceeJaynes were responsible for toe dying and distribution of some 720 colored Easter Eggs, in addition to chocolate “goodies” for each child attending, plus extra special prizes for toe finders of the golden eggs. The Speedway Jaycees’ Chairman, Tom DeVille, along with his Jaynes Chairman, Judie Hill, wish to express their thanks to all the parents who brought their children to the hunt and made it the tremendous success it was. It is the feeling of the Jaycees that this should definitely be an annual affair for all the children of our community.

Erickson, 8556 Buick Drive, Speedway, has bean elected to toe Board of Directors of the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers (ASTME), at the Society’s Annual Meeting held recently in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Erickson is affiliated with the Indianapolis Chapter of ASTME, one of 188 located in manufacturing centers throughout the world, and will serve a two-year term.

YOUNG AUDIENCE'S CONCERT AT SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH A Young Audiences’ 'Concert will be presented in Fellowship Hall of Speedway Christian Church at 3:30 pm„ Thursday, April 29. A program of music by Mozart, Handel, Lloyd, and Dohnanyi will be played by The Indianapolis String Trio—members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Each musician will discuss and demonstrate the method of playing his instrument, and Mr. Ernest Lloyd, ’cellist and composer of one of the pieces to be played, will speak briefly about the skill of musical composition. This concert is a part of the Angelus and Chorale program, and will replace the usual weekly rehearsal for these choirs, but will be of interest to persons of all ages, and the public is cordially invited.
CENSUS OF SPEEDWAY COMPLETED Mr. Robert C. Jackson, Special Census Supervisor completed the taking of the Special Census tor the Town of Speedway. The preliminary figure subject to review by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census at Washington, D. S, shows the population of “Our Town” as of April 6, 1965, to be 11,286.
