JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES CONVB4TION Mr. Sylvester Strong, presiding minister of the West congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, announced that the local congregation will attend the semi-annual convention, to be held Dec. 25-27, for the purpose of advanced Bible instruction and ministry training. Upwards to. 1500 ministers from the Indianapolis area are expected to take advantage of this special training The two and one-half day convention, attended by ministers of the 17 local congregations, is sponsored by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, legal corporation acting for Jehovah’s Witnesses, with headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. “The Society’s purpose Ys-to improve men, women and children mentally and morally by Christian missionary work and by charitable and benevolent instruction of the people on the Bible and incidental scientific, historical and literary subjects,” Mr. Strong stated. The theme, “Speak The Word of God With Boldness,” taken from Acts 4:31, will be carried out through all the programs starting at 6:45 pan. Friday and concluding at 6:00 p.m. Sunday. The sessions will start at 9:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The highlight will be reached Sunday, Dec. 27, when W. R. Wissman, district representative, speaks on the subject “Our Divided World—ls It Here To Stay?” HOME FOR CHRISTMAS Remember last summer when the temperature stayed stubbornly high for several sweltering weeks? Karen Anne does. She felt especially hot, tired, and listless almost all summer, even on the occasional days when the rest of us were enjoying a breather of relief. Now most of us are buttoning up against December’s dully winds, but Karen is looking out her window with excitement and anticipation. It’s a hospital window, and Karen doesn’t need to “button up” against the chill. Her skimpy hospital gown is all she needs—right now. But she’s been promised she’ll be home for Christmas. Back with her family. Snug in the nest. All the good-year-long remembered smells. Evergreens, spicy cookies from the oven, the fine heady order of fruit cake, and soon, the fragrant and crackling reminder that the turkey is “coming along nice,” as her mother always says. She’ll be home for Christmas—and the memories of last summer—truly a hot one for Karen, will be whisked away in the snowy crispness of December, the holiday season. It is a “holiday” indeed for this particular little girl. Her TB, diagnosed last summer when her symptoms persisted longer than the heat might account for, is now under control. Your Christmas Seal Campaign starts now. You will receive your stamps sometime this week. Support for this campagin insures happy holidays for many others. YWCA HOLIDAY FIESTA A “Holiday Fiesta” is about to start at your Indianapolis Young Women’s Christian Association. Tuesday, December 8, at 9:30 a.m. the ladies will see a cooking demonstration by Mrs. Blackmeyer of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company. Here is an opportunity to learn how to prepare a variety of foods and with the Christmas season fast approaching, new ideas should be welcomed. After the demonstration everyone is invited to take a refreshing dip in the pool or see an interesting film. Other season specials are Trimnasties on Thursday from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and Gym-Swim on Tuesday evening. The four sessions, two in December and two in January, will help you avoid those holiday extra pounds. Wednesday evening, December 9, is also another date to remember. An exhibition and demonstration of Judo and Karate will be presented by brown belt holders Jim Clawson, Robert Schnepp and John Lennox. This event is free for YW members and only 50c for non-mem-bers. INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY Eric Rosenblith, concertmaster with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra since 1953, will be violin soloist at the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon (Dec. 5-6) concerts of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Rosenblith, who concertizes annually in the role of soloist both in this country and abroad, will be playing one of the finest Stradivarius violins in use today.
