CUB SCOUT PACK 66 Over 200 Cub Scouts and their families attended the Blue and Gold Birthday Banquet held recently at the Speedway Christian Church. Guests attending the banquet were Chris Schrock, district representative, Richard Schilling, Scoutmaster of Troop 66, and Jack Hervey, Scoutmaster of Troop 500. Mrs. Schrock and Mrs. Schilling were present also. Following the dinner three boys were inducted as Bobcats: Pat -Cassady, DeVin DeWeese and Robert Love. Juniors Present Farce-Satire When houselights dim and curtains open on the Junior Class Student Theater production of “The Imaginary Invalid,” the audience will be treated to an extraordinary spectacle. This play takes place in 17th century Paris, in the drawing room of Monsieur Argan. A local furniture store is going to lend a few pieces of authentic French Provincial furniture to give authenticity to the production. The lavish costumes used in the New York production are being shipped to Speedway. These will not only add much color and style to the show, but also be quite comical. “The Imaginary Invalid,” written in 1673, was intended as a satirical barb aimed at the medical profession in Paris. Written with a distinct accent on the ridiculous, it is played in a bur-lesque-slap-comedy manner. The situations, characters and linesare just as funny now as they were in the 17th century. Many of the actors will appear to have stepped right out of a comic strip. Appearing in the show will be Alex Williams as Monsieur Argan, even more delightful than he was in “Green Pastures;” Vicki Wagner is perfectly cast as a clownish maid in Argan’s house. Donna Spencer plays a delightful “tongue in cheek” innocent maiden who falls in love with an equally delightful Russ Sinks, a natural comedian. Mike Harcourt and Lynn Schoenewey add two more hilariously funny characterizations, and Donna Woodward is introduced in the last act as a 17th century “brat.” Last, but not least, the buffoonery of Mike Brubaker, Kenny Ent, Steve Sumner, Karl Wacker and Jim Keating completes an evening of laughs and chuckles.
