ST. CHRISTOPHER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from Page 1) Last Sunday there remained only eight places for the ladies of St. Christopher to attend Fatima Retreat scheduled for next weekend (February 14-16). Call Mrs. Frances Buchanan (CH. 1-7976), after 6:30 p.m. 1610 Cord street, right away if interested. High School girls interested in baby sitting were asked to call Mrs. Such (CH. 1-0888) or Mrs. Harmon (CH. 1-8825) ... or high school boys, if interested. Candles were blessed Sunday before the 10 o’clock Mass. Anyone wishing candles for their home should call at the rectory. It is customary for every Catholic family to have blessed candles in their home at all times. Sunday was the Feast of the Purification. On Monday, the feast of St. Blaze, throats were blessed in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Mrs. Walter Bauer is chairman for the weekly cleaning of the church on Saturday morning, February Bth, after the 8 o’clock Mass. She would appreciate volunteer helpers. Thirteen girls from the 7th and Bth grades of St Christopher school have won 6 out 7 of their volley ball games. They were defeated by St. Catherine’s, last year’s champion, but they are going to try hard to win the other three games of the first half. They play on Tuesday and Friday afternoons after school either at St. Joan of Arc, St. Anthony, Little Flower, or St. Phillip Neri gyms for their home games, since St. Christopher has no gym. A volley game lasts about fifteen or twenty minutes, so three games are played, and the winner is the team which wins two out of three—or all three. Our girls look very sharp in their new red slip-over blouses over their white blouses, which the mothers have made. Coaches Mrs. McQuinn
