KAPPA KAPPA KAPPA Epsilon Eta’s representatives to the 40th annual Hoosier Art Salon at the Wm. H. Block Co., were: Mrs. James Mattis, Mrs. John Jackson, Mrs. W. S. South, and Mrs. Russell Petit. During these 40 years, the Hoosier Salon has had a tremendous influence upon the promotion of art in this state. Over $500,000 in prizes and sales have been distributed to artists. Entries now come from Hoosiers living in nineteen states and Canada. Founded in 1901, as an all-In-diana sorority, Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc., has had as its objectives the promotion of charity, culture, and education. It therefore follows logically that it has always been loyally and actively interested in the support of the Hoosier Salon. Tri Kappa offered its first prize at the Salon in Chicago in 1928, and with its first purchase prize of S4OO in 1932, began its own art collection. The sorority now owns 75 paintings by 64 different Hoosier artists, thus making this an outstanding collection of Indiana art over the past quarter century. A few of these paintings are hung in the Tri Kappa ward of Riley Hospital, Indianapolis; in Beatty Memorial at Westville; and in various other public libraries and hospitals throughout the state on the sorority’s “loan” program. This year the Art Committee of the state organization selected and purchased three paintings. These are to be placed in the gallery of the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville. Available now to each chapter for use in the chapter or in the local schools are three sets of colored 35mm. slides of the paintings in the Tri Kappa collection, along with biographical sketches of the artists represented. Indpls. Hiking Club The Indianapolis Hiking Club will hike in Morgan-Monroe State Forest on Sunday, February 9. The Club will leave from the east side of the State House at 1:00 p.m. There will be an evening cook-out. Mr. Dave Weeden, 6330 Manker St., is the leader. CROSSROADS GRANDMOTHERS CLUB The Crossroads of America Grandmothers Club 597 will hold their monthly meeting at the YMCA at 6 p.m. Monday, February 10th, Florence Buckrop, President in charge. After a short business meeting, Alvin J. Schutzbank, well known South Side Podiatrist, will lecture on the care of the feet.
