k Speedway Being Annexed? For years the residents of Speedway have enjoyed an Independent form of government. Through their representatives on the Town-Board, the citizens of Speedway have had control over their resources both natural and monetary. Once Speedway had their own Zoning-Board which could act independently; now they can’t. Once the Park Department functioned independently, now they don’t Why? The Indianapolis Metropolitan-Plan has moved into our town. Indianapolis’ Metropolitan Plan has big plans for Speedway. Why? They have plans to annex the Town of Speedway. If we are annexed, we lose control of our Schools, Police Department, Fire Department, Street Department, and most of all we stand to lose our community spirit which has made this community grow and prosper. Is Indianapolis the example of a city which we could be proud to be a part? On January 22, 1964 the Speedway Jaycees appeared before the Town-Board and after presenting our views of the feasibility of Speedway becoming a 4th or sth Class City, President of the board Mr. Lawrence Leonard appointed Mr. Robert Hoerger to serve on a special committee to be made up of Civic-Leaders, Businessmen and Interested Citizens, who will study the advisibilty of Speedway becoming a 4th or sth class city. Then at a later date this committee will report back its finding to be acted on by the Town Board. Any correspondence concerning this program will be appreciated and can be sent to Speedway Jaycees Office, 4901 West 16th Street, Speedway, Indiana. Committee on Community Development Card of Thanks f wish to express my thanks to the neighbors, friends and relatives for their beautiful floral tributes, and many thoughtful kindnesses extended at the time of my recent bereavement—the death of my husband, John W. Blair. Everything was deeply appreciated. An especial thanks to Dr. Brooks, Dr. Blackwell, Dr. Brueckman and the nurses at the Methodist Hospital. I wish to also thank the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge, the Drum & Bugle Corps and the Conkle Funeral Home for their services. Mrs. Lucille Blair, wife
