Weekday Religious Education Class To Begin In September The recent Supreme Court decision regarding prayer and Bible reading in the public schools points up to all of us the increasing responsibility of the major institutions—home and church—for the religious growth and development of each child. A special committee, selected by and from members of the Speedway Area Ministerial Association, has been engaged in research into this matter of strengthening, enriching, and supplementing the religious education provided children of the Speedway community. As a result of this concern for the religious growth of your children, a program of After-School Weekday Religious Education has been proposed for fifth grade children of the Speedway City; Schools. This program, which will begin in the fall of this year, will provide for a one hour class one day a week to be held after school in the church nearest each of the four elementary schools. Cost of the program will be borne cooperatively by Speedway churches. This is a program designed by the ministers of the Speedway area to meet the needs of Speedway City. Letters have been mailed to all parents of prospective fifth graders explaining the After-School Weekday Religious Education program. Further information may be secured from any Speedway area minister. Coming issues of the Speedway Flyer will also contain additional facts about the program.
